Are we wearing our throwback uniforms on Saturday night? Striped pants, names on jerseys (ugh), white shoes, etc? Also I see they are going honor the 2012 team during at the game- the O’Brien team that held the program together - McGloin, Mauti, Zordich. Looking at that roster, we could use a few of those players on this squad.

Did the previous rounds of throwback unis have names on them? I don’t recall that.

I’ve never understood including the white shoes as the only time they were worn back in our history was when we lost to Bama in the Sugar Bowl. Why would you want to throwback to a blown championship?

I’m still waiting for Penn State to throwback to the Royal Blue unis before Paterno switched to Navy blue. I still find it weird that the color used for our athletics is a different shade of blue than what is still the official Penn State blue.

Gimmick uniforms don't make a team.

The only winning formula is: Intelligent Players Willing to be Properly Taught + Quality Positional / Head Coaching.

Sadly, PSU is lacking 50% of the required equation.

Mike Mauti. He will always be my favorite. He was the face of that team and when I think of Penn State, it’s the toughness and never die attitude of Mike Mauti.

Exactly. I agree completely. I don’t get the interest in something considered to be of poor taste and a gimmick.

The PSU administration should leave our proud, respected, and universally recognized uniforms intact.

Just because you consider it poor taste doesn’t make it so. News flash: There are others with opinions different than yours.

I gotta be honest. I have no idea what you look like, but every time I read one of your posts I picture the Grumpy Old Man skit from SNL with Dana Carvey.

I could give 2 $hits what they wear as long as they go out there and play GOOD ball. I love our Basic blues and black shoes but I would rather see the team play hard and win a convincing game tonight then worry about if they have their name on the back of the jersey or their wearing white shoes

Fixed it for you. That team was absolutely loaded and would have hands down won the Big 10 in 2012 but for the takedown. What a shame.

Fixed it for you. You are pretty optimistic in hindsight.

They have not included the names on the jerseys in past G of G unis. Nothing indicates that they will this year.
The G of G jerseys are closer to the old royal blue, but not quite what they were in the 60s until about '68 when they went to navy. That would be nice, though.
I agree on the white shoes' place in our history, although it is a nice look and it is easy to see why players like them. That's why they wore them vs Bama in that MNC game - the players requested to wear them.
I am as anti-pink and black as can be. Those original colors were primarily for the baseball team, and was replaced by blue and white after just 3 years (thanks to the colors fading).
Our home blues are as sharp as any uniform in the country. I can understand doing the G of G once a season, or going to a true alternate uni once a season or two, but those home blues as the standard.... why mess with perfection?! (Except I'd put the chipmunk logo on the hip).

I like the thought of the chipmunk logo on the hip! That would be a cool little adornment.

I would be in favor of doing pink and black at least once for a homecoming game. Just something different that does have PSU history behind it, even if it was more tied to the baseball team. Plus it would likely be in October, so it could also tie in for Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

You seem to be forgetting or ignoring that Paterno made the biggest change to the uniform ever. He changed the color from royal to navy.
