Hype video just released. They look pretty sweet. I’d be in favor of adopting a classic look and sticking with it…but doing a game each year like this.

The old George Uniform was red, but uniforms weren’t like they are today. But these are garnet. For some reason our fans believe garnet is close to maroon. The photos in the sun are going to appear brighter obviously. But Under Armour has done a good job of putting us in garnet. So our colors used to be red and black?
Not sure why you are saying this based on the video and new photos of these uniforms. The old George Uniform was certainly a bright red, but uniforms weren’t like they are today. But these are garnet. For some reason our fans believe garnet is close to maroon. The photos in the sun are going to appear brighter, obviously. But Under Armour has done a good job of putting us in garnet. So our colors used to be red and black?
So the answer is... yes?The old George Uniform was certainly a bright red
Completely misread your first question. My bad! Back then the uniforms were red. But our official school colors were garnet & black. The manufacturers didn’t make the garnet I guess. Uniforms weren’t quite as big a deal back then as they are today. Our basketball uniforms in the early 2000’s were a Cardinal red as Nike didn’t make a true garnet. This was during the Odom Era…I believe the year we went to the NCAA Tournament. That was definitely one of the better things about going to UA…and especially being one of their first schools. They got our color pretty close. I can remember us wearing “garnet” versus UGA for the first time under Lou Holtz…those were apple red! But must have worked good because Quincy Carter kept throwing the ball to our guysSo the answer is... yes?

Should be the standard.
I always liked the Carlen and Morrison era helmets. I always have felt that the black helmets were gimmicky. Seemed to me, when wearing the black helmets, we were trying to give the aura of Darth Vader but, more often than not, played like Mickey Mouse. Embarrassing. Stick with the Carlen/Morison era white/garnet helmets (at least their colors); things will work out.Question regarding these…what’s the story behind the stars on the helmet? I have always loved that detail…but admit I never thought about why they were on there.
The helmet is designed to look like a throwback. The block C has a classic look and it’s larger on the helmet. There are some folks (CockyLids) that make some cool alternate designs for helmets that have made a modern version of these I’d love to see worn with this uniform as well. Did a beautiful throwback with the S C logo as well.

What era uniforms could we wear that we were great?Video is meh.
If they really want to match the throw back, go with tear away jerseys. But why go to that era? Other than Rogers, we weren’t that great.
Interesting take. Especially when you watch the NFL these days and see all the throwback uniforms from the 70’s & 80’s and fans begging those uniforms to become the permanents. Seattle, Tampa Bay, Denver, Atlanta, Philly, etc…OK, I'm gonna say it. Those uniforms from the George Rogers era don't do anything for me. They are cool as an occasional special throwback thing, but they aren't that great. They are way better than the script "Carolina" helmets, but that's about it. Like most styles from the 1970s, they shouldn't be revisited other than at the occasional throwback party.
I think the fact that they are just throwback uniforms, and therefore worn only on special occasions, is why fans like them. I think people just like changing things up now and then. I wonder which of Oregon's uniforms that fanbase likes the most. Doesn't really matter, though, because the tradition of that program is to change it up. I guess you could say their uniform tradition is that they have no tradition.Interesting take. Because once we got beat by 50 in them the fans will blame the uniforms. I’m sure part of the scheduling is due to hoping to win with part of the celebrations they have planned around it.Just realized this is the game against Akron. Why wouldn't you wear those in a bigger game with national exposure and to fire up the team in hopes of pulling off a big upset?
I'd be more embarrassed to lose in the throwback uniforms.Just realized this is the game against Akron. Why wouldn't you wear those in a bigger game with national exposure and to fire up the team in hopes of pulling off a big upset?
Our garnet is the same Pantone color as Bama's crimson, so red is definitely not our color. Now that's red!!SEC Unfiltered on Instagram: "South Carolina will be rocking the George Rogers era throwbacks this season. So it's crimson? Doesn't look the same on tv.Our garnet is the same Pantone color as Bama's crimson, so red is definitely not our color.
I thought 1980 was great for South Carolina. I think the 1979 and 1980 seasons was the first time South Carolina had back to back eight win seasons.Video is meh.

And I had thought beating Clemson five times in a row meant we finally left the glory days of back-to-back 8-win seasons behind... it is what it is.I thought 1980 was great for South Carolina. I think the 1979 and 1980 seasons was the first time South Carolina had back to back eight win seasons.
In 1980 South Carolina scored 73 against Wichita State, visited the big house and beat Michigan, scored, 49 points in first half against Cincinnati (Cocky's debut) came within four points to beat eventual national champions Georgia (late fumble in game when South Carolina was driving).
I must say in my opinion South Carolina did suffer the worst lost ever by losing to clemson. South Carolina went to clemson as favorites and lost the game by 21 points. As a kid I remember walking out of the Carolina Coliseum (watch game by CCTV) crying. No loss hurt more than that.
1980 season might not be great season now, but it was a great season back then.
Bama is PMS 201. We are PMS 202. They are different. Our garnet is the same Pantone color as Bama's crimson, so red is definitely not our color.

If that's the reason, it's a sad statement of where our football program is. I see Vandy is an away game.Because once we got beat by 50 in them the fans will blame the uniforms. I’m sure part of the scheduling is due to hoping to win with part of the celebrations they have planned around it.
I couldn't afford the swatches.Bama is PMS 201. We are PMS 202. They are different.
I think these are awesome...as a throwback. I wouldn't want them every week.OK, I'm gonna say it. Those uniforms from the George Rogers era don't do anything for me.
