Getting back to football, is Auburn now a must win?

Feels weird even asking that question, but it sure feels like a building stream of skepticism is going to quickly turn into an avalanche if we don’t come away with a W this weekend. Auburn has lots of holes

If we lose to Auburn, then we will finish 6-6 and that would be a cluster17 of a season for a team this experienced/talented.

Even 7-5 feels kind of like a failure with this group and we appear trended directly to that.

It's absolutely a must win game. Lose this and we're staring at a 6-6 record after a 5-1 start. Not bad enough for Leach to get fired, but there would be a lot of heat on him going into next year.

Of course it is. Home game against a bad team. Gotta win all those.

We lose this game and Cohen wont be the last person leaving the athletic department (assuming 6 wins). Leach's only life line would be to beat OM at that point. And let's be honest, that's pretty close to a must win game for Leach too now. A new AD an no fan support would be bad.

Not making excuses, but preseason everyone thought our schedule was so tough that 6-6 would be fine. ESPN had us ranked Top 20 in FPI, but still predicted a 6-6 finish. A&M and Arkansas obviously were not as good as predicted, but 7-5 is still a decent record against this schedule.

That said, losing to Auburn would be a big step backwards at this point.

All games are must wins. I never heard of a must lose game.

The 2008 Battle for the Golden Egg being the exception that proves the rule.

Very much so. Lose this one, we are likely finishing 6-6 and Leach on the hot seat. Can't lose at home, at night, to bad teams - especially when you are considered a bowl team. I don't like expectations but they do factor into things.

I would say yes. This was thought originally to be our only path to bowl eligibility. It's no longer that, but it is the last SEC game we'll be favored in.

It has to be a must win. Auburn is terrible and we are at home. I’m a big Leach fan, but he will start to lose me if we drop this game.

Absolutely it’s a Must Win.
Lose to AU and OM and we should be looking to make two new hires in the Athletic Department come December.
