Need to form another line. All you Lamont and Tanner hire bitchers need to form an apology line. This hire could be the springboard to getting basketball back on track. Sure looks better than it did a few months ago.

Is he going to be a one and done? That's what's frustrating with basketball now.

If he is a one and done than he will have earned the right to be with his play this upcoming season. SO be it, if he earns he. We just improved our chance to win 12 more games in a week.

Tanner as in Ray Tanner? A new BB Coach getting a 5* basketball commitment, a decade into Tanner’s career elevates him from from being the worst A/D in the modern era to a godsend? Don’t think so. Tanner still needs to be fired or reassigned to the mascot position yesterday. I know UofSC won’t fire him, but In my eyes this guy can’t retire soon enough. I

No .You misread the post. Only the criticism on the hiring of the basketball coach. Like a lot of other things let's see how it plays out long term before knee jerking. Right now the hire is looking better. I think that is a fair assessment.

Not sure what this team can accomplish with no one around him. Also, with him being a one and done I really don't think him playing at USC will have any long term benefit to the Gamecocks.

I think it will depend on his game. As a 210 lb post player he's going to need to add a lot of weight, or an effective 3-point shot in order to be one and done. That's if he wants to be a first-rounder. Some guys will leave if they think they'll be drafted at all (though going in the second round is typically no better than going undrafted).

Paul Finebaum said Fri Phil Fulmer was worst AD in CFB history. He must be unaware of Tanner. At least, Tenn had the gumption to fire Fulmer. The fact that Tanner hasn't been fired/reassigned says a lot about the USC athletic dept.

Presumably a one-and-done.

I'm hopeful, but I'm not sure how much GG moves the needle for us this year, given the overall state. Paris is in his first season and we are in full rebuild mode after the number of transfers we had. I just don't know how much one player can help, particularly if he's a one-and-done. If he's not a one-and-done, then it might be a different story in terms of the impact he can have on the recruiting class next year. You obviously never turn down a kid of GG's caliber, but I'm just not sure we're in position this season to maximize his impact. I guess the best case scenario is that he's really good enough but not quite good enough to be one-and-done.

He won't be a program changer, but he can be a game changer for a year or so. Anything to help our new coach and his progress works for me.
