I didn't realize the NBA required you to be 19 AND one year removed from high school to be eligible for the draft. The catch is, you only have to be 19 during the calendar year the draft is held. So you can be drafted at 18, so long as turn 19 by the end of the year. GG turns 19 on 12/17/2023. If he was born 2 weeks later, he'd be coming back to school for another year.

I’d imagine it he were born 2 weeks later he would’ve played his senior year of high school and likely goes to UNC, not South Carolina, for the upcoming year. No doubt the fact that he would be eligible for the NBA Draft is why he re-classed and the fact that he re-classed is the only reason he came to USC instead of sticking with UNC.

So…nah. Not thinking we almost had him for 2 seasons. We were fortunate for the 1.

Well, you miss the point, lol, but anyway, were we fortunate to have him?

Of course we were. He’s going to be an NBA Draft pick. We don’t have many of those around here. He was a member of the All-SEC Freshman team. Sure he had some rough moments. But it’s always good to land the highest ranked recruit in program history. And he fell in our lap by re-classing. Otherwise he would’ve gone to UNC like he planned.

... or being two weeks younger would that have put him a class behind where he was in HS and grade school? So even graduating early would he have actually got here next year? Idk

With a December 17th birthday I don’t believe that would’ve been the case.
