Glad "Neon" Deion Sanders and his blue sun glasses were losers Sat.

Numerous Jackson State players were called for late hits and at least one player was ejected. Other players should have been flagged.

It will be interesting to follow the Colorado program over the next years to see if Sanders can translate great individual talent into coaching success. My guess is he can.

Guessing won't be necessary. The man is a winner.

I generally like Deion but didn't shed a tear.

The only thing that concerns me about him is I don't want him poaching any of our recruits. Read where he was eyeballing the Swain kid from Carrollton, Ga. Hope our commit was not at the game in Atlanta. Otherwise, I don't care or worry about Deion.

It’s hard for me not to like Deon. During my childhood when he was in the NFL and MLB I was a big fan. He is trying to Coach football in an ice Hockey state though. :)

He is a difficult person for me to like. Looks like you either like him or don't. Not much middle ground.

The proof will be in the pudding. Right now he can recruit based on being Coach Prime. Eventually, though, kids will want play for a winner. If he's not able to back it all up with results on the field, Coach Prime will fizzle out.

It'll take a year or two to gauge how Sanders and the Buffaloes are doing. I always give a new coach the benefit of a couple of recruiting cycles
to see how the trajectory is going with recruiting. Socal and UCLA leave in '24. The PAC 12 eliminated divisions this year. Lot of flux happening.

Deion is a charismatic promoter. He'll attract a certain kind of player who gravitates to that personality. The ultimate metric is, of course, the W/L record. That program is starting out from a lowly place in the conference.

I still can’t believe Auburn didn’t hire him. Yes, there are risks, and it might not have worked. But watching him recruit head to head vs Saban would be popcorn worthy. And he would have flipped the roster through the portal in a year flat. I think they will end up regretting their hire of Hugh Freeze.

I would have been kind of surprised if they had hired him. He has 2 years of FCS coaching to his credit. No assistant or coordinator experience. No real way to tell at this point if he can run a program, hire and evaluate good assistants, etc. His success at Jackson State was 100% based on his name. That won’t cut it in the SEC. He was able to use his name to bring in a few good players (and has the fortune of having a son who’s a good QB) and mostly out-talent the competition at Jackson. It wouldn’t be nearly so easy in the SEC. You have to have talent, top to bottom. I’m not saying he wouldn’t be able to do it Auburn, but at this point there’s no reason to believe he can. It would have been a roll of the dice. I think Freeze is a roll of the dice as well, but better odds.

Let’s put it this way, if a no-name coach had done exactly what Deion had done at Jackson State over the past couple seasons, nobody would be talking him up for a P5 job.
