....this Braves team will actually be good, as in division title contender? I'd gotten the impression that the franchise was headed towards the bargain basement.

Great rotation. If Hampton can get 10-12 wins we should be fine. Biggest question is a consistent closer, we don't have one. But I think behind Detroit we have the best 1-8 in the league. Should be a fun season.

The 1-8 is very, very solid. The rotation looks good, but I'm not holding my breath on Hampton. In my mind, anything we get from him is gravy. The pen appears solid, and hopefully Soriano turns the corner on being a consistent closer. He's got the stuff, he just has to put it all together. When Gonzalez comes back (maybe around the AS Break), that'll strengthen the pen even more. Should be one hell of a 3 way battle for the East.

on Baseball Tonight. Although it's nice to see us start with the same immediate concern - bullpen - as we've always had, save for Smoltz's few years as closer.

They dumped some guys, but got a lot of great young talent mixed in with the vets. Full year of Tex. Hopefully Glavine can turn back the clock along with Smoltzie. I don't think they will miss Andruw Jones' .200 average now that he's off roids. Two ESPN guys picked the Braves to win the pennant. I think we'll be right there in the thick of it.

I think the closer role is a concern only bc Soriano has never started the season as a teams closer, he has the tools to do the job. The rest of the pen appears to be a very servicable bunch of guys. The home run zimmerman hit off of moylan last night was a pitch missed up and inside ant he hit it long and hard. Of course i was mad when they lost last night, but a couple balls nearly went out of the park that could of changed the game. Tex hit that ball off the wall and it was said that fence is 14 ft tall (the only 14 ft spot in the park) and McCann hit one off the top edge of the wall. Once Hudson got out of the 1st inning he dominated that game. I would say the Braves are going to give teams fits all year long.

a good year last year closing, when he wasn't playing at turner (think he was like 1-4 or something like that?). hopefully he can fix this. if so, i believe he'll be a solid closer. one things for sure, he definitely has the stuff to be a good one.
