MLB is doing their best to kill baseball. Ghost runners and now this. What is this, kids making up rules for sandlot games? I get that you don't want 18-inning games. Just set a 12-inning maximum and if it ends in a tie, it's a tie. You'd be looking at about 1 or 2 ties per team.

I don't have answers for all of MLB's problems. But, allowing a tie is not a good idea, to me.

It's better than ghost runners. Ideally, you'd just keep playing like it was for over 100 years. From 2012 - 2017 only 219 games went more than 12 innings, and 103 of those ended in the 13th. A lot of the new rules like pitch clocks and relievers having to face a batter are good. But ghost runners and the golden at bat are just a freaking joke.

It's idiotic but on brand for Manfred. They can't standardize the 17ing baseballs from game to game, but let's make up some stupid bullsh!t that completely changes how the game is played. Here's an idea: fix the problem of blackouts making it so GD hard to watch your product, you 17ing moron. That's what's killing the game. The blackout rules for MLB are asinine.

I can't argue with any of this, except that tying isn't better. It's in the same group as ghost runners and golden at bats. A wise sage once said, "There's no TYING in BASEBALL!"

What's a ghost runner and is it a rule now? I just don't watch MLB.

That’s awesome. Love it. Those of us Great Leaders of Men have been pushing this idea for a while now:

After reading more about it, I’m simply dumbfounded that these are the problems they are trying to solve…..yet they are continuing on with the worst rule in all of sports by still allowing a runner to advance to 1st base on a strikeout.

I'm ready for the next great idea. Pitchers have to use their non dominant hand one at bat, walks go to third base instead of first, each team uses a tee one at bat per game, a clown pitches one inning. The options are endless.

ETA: I hate Manfred

How about a 10th inning dance off?

Ahhh. I knew there was that rule but I thought it was an actual runner.

It is an actual runner, I guess technically it's not a Ghost runner in the way we all used it as children. The last batter out from the previous inning starts the Tenth on second.

Look, if your worried that pitchers are just too dominant and hitting sucks because of analytics, there is a very simple solution.

Move the mound back one or two feet. If pitchers are really throwing harder now, just force them to slow down by throwing a little farther.

Take a break from recruiting meltdowns and media team firings. What does the pack think of this? There's no way this is real, right?

Oh hell just give everybody a trophy and tell them they all won.

Once again, MLB is making up crap rules to solve problems that don't really exist. This crap better not get accepted.
