Sorry, if already posted, but how dubious an honor would it be if the golf team delivered on the ever elusive National Championship?

I know the odds of this happening are impossible, but just wondering.

It would be awesome and fantastic. It would finally get the 0 National Championship albatross off our neck. Vanderbilt got the women's bowling NC last year? Sure who cares about women's bowling, but when it comes down to it, they have one and we don't.

but if we get Homan some facilities to work with I think he has a legitimate shot at one some day. He is a good coach and has brought our golf team to a very competitive level. The teams who will compete for the championship have much better facilities than us. Hell, even USM has as good and there's are getting better. I would have to bet we are one of the few Division 1 programs that's home course has a high voltage power line running through it. I know that is petty, but it does matter to elite golfers. It would be nice if Old Waverly would take us in as home course and leave the university course for turf management courses.

I agree that it would be wonderful. That's the reason for the question. I wanted to know where everyone else stood on the issue.

is a long shot, but the upside is that most of the talent on this team is coming back. The thing that concerns me is I don't know that there are any stand out high school players in MS that can step in and follow these guys.

With regard to the facilities, agree that the power line along the western edge of the course is horrible, but our University Course has actually really improved in the last year. Nothing against the guy that left, but the new director of golf has got the course playing great. They have also installed a virtual reality swing lab that videos the swing and identifies problems. When I played out there the other day one of the PGM students working in the pro shop told me that they were planning to expand the practice facility as well. Most importantly the greens are not only covered, but are putting well.

Having said that I agree that the MSU course in no way stacks up Waverly. It would be nice to use Waverly for recruiting if nothing else.

it is used for that, and more.
</p>...at least we used it 5-10 years ago for this.
