The 17-point 4th quarter comeback might put SMU in the playoff and the Citrus Bowl will select Alabama. ReliaQuest wants Florida in Tampa, dropping us to the Gator in Jacksonville. Man…we really get the least reward for a solid season, especially the way it ended.

We’ll see what the committee does tomorrow though.

We're out because we lost 3 games. Too many ppl forget that minor fact. We're not out because of some committee or some conspiracy.
Clemson has lost three games. They are in. As I’ve said to many others on here, that is a lazy take. If it simply comes down to “no 3 loss team gets in” then explain how they are in without quality of wins and losses, without SOS, and without auto-bids. Nobody has forgotten that minor fact. Wouldn’t go as far to say it’s a “conspiracy,” but it’s an awful system that doesn’t stand on any real merit.

I've posted MANY times on here this always happens. If bowls have a choice we always fall down the line. It's happened many times it's not new.
We could very well fall out of a Florida bowl especially if Arizona state and Clempson jump us in playoff rankings.

Maybe I'm not as familiar with the rankings as I thought, because I thought teams HAD to be ranked in the top 12 to be in the playoffs. If that's the case, then don't CU and ASU have to be higher than we are?

I don't think so.
Both are in on automatic qualifiers I believe, not on rankings.

I think everything I've seen shows them being 11 and 12, but maybe that is just seeding. Then again, what's the real difference between ranking and seeding if you're in? I basically says the rankings (and all the talk about who's outside of the top 12) are completely meaningless.

Brett McMurphy is usually spot on with these things and for what it’s worth, he has us in Citrus against Illinois. Has Bama in ReliaQuest. Florida dropping to the Gator Bowl. This leads me to believe he’s confident in this order because he’s been the one saying all along that Citrus will come down to us and Bama and they’ll take Bama. For him to change that, he must have been given some info. He usually nails these things.

I genuinely don’t know this, but prestige-wise, how would the Gator bowl, Citrus Bowl, and ReliaQuest bowl be ranked? 1 through 3.

Disclaimer: This is all from my point of view as a fan considering traveling to attend a bowl game, regardless of "prestige or bowl pecking order" outside of the CFP construct.

Pretty much the only bowls I would care about getting invited to outside of the playoffs would be the Las Vegas Bowl or the Holiday Bowl because Las Vegas and San Diego are places I actually like going to. Pinstripe Bowl would be cool because Christmastime in NYC is magical and playing in Yankee Stadium would be a neat experience.

Before it became a playoff game I would add the Peach Bowl to that list because I love Atlanta too. All the other bowl destinations are somewhere between "suck" and "meh" to me.

I wouldn’t be surprised to see South Carolina get a more prestigious bowl than Alabama. Anything other than the playoffs is disappointing to Bama fans and they might take the year off. On the other hand, South Carolina is more likely to travel, maybe…

The straight answer to your question is...
Cheezits Citrus number one
ReliaQuest outback number 2
TaxSlayer Gator number 3
This. And that has been the pecking order for a couple of decades now.

Last year, the Citrus payout ws $8.2m, the Reliaquest/Outback payout was $6.4m, and the Gator was $5.3

Fortunately, most of the gloom-and-doom prognostications in this thread failed to materialize.

Really didn’t see much doom and gloom when reading through. Just stating the obvious. Many on here were optimistic. I ended my original post even saying we’ll see what they do tomorrow. Next post was about McMurphy saying Citrus. But maybe I don’t understand doom and gloom.
