I hope we can get someone in here the will stop trying to make us a retirement community and start trying to get some of those jobs Columbus is getting over here. Also heard today that the convention center ground breaking could be about 8 months away.

Let the Starkville voters make the decision. What does some Representative from the Coast care?

If an area delegation is not 100% behind a local and private bill, then the legislature will not pass it. Were all your local legislators behind the bill?

From the board meeting last night...

Heard that private developers are moving forward on the proposed mixed use development which includes a conference center, despite the fact a proposed 1 percent increase in the city's hospitality tax did not get legislative approval earlier this week. "I guess we'll back up and we'll punt and we'll be better prepared next time," Mayor Dan Camp said.
The conference center will be last thing developed in the project, Camp said, noting officials are working on tax increment financing related to the project

Hopefully something will actually happen on that site in the near future. I've been excited about what that location could become since Ergon was talking about developing it 5 years ago.
