In your view? In everyone's view. I don't think anyone was putting big dance and USC in the same sentence prior to the start of the season.Great, great win. Still think it will be tough to make the Big Dance. BUT, with Paris' coaching plus the grit of our players, we have a chance. I never thought I'd be saying that in Year 2. In my view, we are ahead of schedule.
Just think how good his program will be two years from now. Seriously. In your view? In everyone's view. I don't think anyone was putting big dance and USC in the same sentence prior to the start of the season.
I think .500 will be good enough unless we win a bunch of games over the next two weeks and fall to .500 down the stretch. If we go .500, need to play well on the backend of the schedule.Gamecocks win 77-64 over Arkansas to improve to 15-3 overall and 3-2 in conference play. A good bounce back from their loss to Georgia last week - we'll be playing Kentucky next, then @ Tennessee 2 games after that, then Mississippi 2 games after that, then @ Auburn 2 games after that. All ranked opponents and tough games. Between those games however we play Missouri, @ Georgia, Vanderbilt, and LSU. We have a good chance to go 4-4 in those games, although they will be tough. It would be great to go at least .500 in SEC play, which would put us at 21-10 heading into the conference tournament. Would that be good enough to get us into.....you know.....?
Lunardi has 8 sec teams in. That’s really strong. .500 should absolutely get us in.I believe .500 in the conference will get us in. SEC seems to be really good in mens hoops this year.
Have a game BJ!!!
Dude is a beast out there!! Boy do I wish we had him for another year or two!BJ was stout.
Sounds as if you disagree with the experts. Fair enough. We're at best a bubble team and we're going to spend the season on the razor's edge, at best.
A few of us were on it from the jump…but we didn’t have much company!!Wow, looks like a lot of y’all all of a sudden are on the Paris train. I guess winning does cure everything.
I was on the Paris train the day he was hired. I have post to back it up.Wow, looks like a lot of y’all all of a sudden are on the Paris train. I guess winning does cure everything.
Yep. There were a few of us.A few of us were on it from the jump…but we didn’t have much company!!
I saw the NCAA approved Kentucky's 7'2" center to start playing today. Supposed to be a stud from overseas.Great win, on the road no less. Puts us back where we need to be. Massive game on Tuesday. Not likely a win, but a win, I think, would lock us in for the tourney.
FWIW the ESPN predictor gives us about a 34% chance chance to win. They gave us less than 10% against Bama.
I recall you, Dabo and me. There may have been some others. But, we 3 repeatedly defended Lamont. I made the case that his overall record and conference record (and/or standing) improved each year he was at UT-Chattanooga as Head Coach. In his final year there (5th), they made the Big Dance , losing to BIG member Illinois by only a single point. And I stated that, prior to that, he was an assistant to one of the top basketball coaches of the early 21st century in the nation, Bo Ryan of Wisconsin. And when I observed that Paris "overachieved" in his first season at South Carolina, somebody, (I don't remember who now ) criticized me for saying that Lamont overachieved with his first team here. Well, he did overachieve as his team finished higher in the conference than most expected we would. And he did so after losing around 75% of the previous team due to graduation and/or transfer to UMASS and Frank Martin. Paris' late hire meant he had to replace those guys with mostly a ragtag of leftovers in the recruiting pool. The bottom line is that I believe anyone would find it difficult to disagree with the statement: "Lamont Paris was a good hire".Yep. There were a few of us.
Yes. I fear that if we end up in the first 8 out, it will be the UGA loss that put us there. A good win yesterday (as any of them are on the road), but because of the UGA loss, we still need to win one we shouldn't.Looks to be a great win. That UGA game really hurt. If we close this one out, could have been 4-1. That said, 3-2 looks pretty darn good.
A game utterly given away - gift-wrapped. A HOME game, I'm talking about. Thanks goodness for UK and A&M wins...it puts back in after the one loss teams....
Dang it, i'm still stinging over that loss to UGA at HOME no less!!!!
But mizzu had a HOME game taken away - gift wrapped. Could be 4-1 but could easily be 2-3 or 1-4. We were dogs to both mizzu and Arkansas. Time to move on.A game utterly given away - gift-wrapped. A HOME game, I'm talking about.
I'd rather have my heart pre-broken.But mizzu had a HOME game taken away - gift wrapped. Could be 4-1 but could easily be 2-3 or 1-4. We were dogs to both mizzu and Arkansas. Time to move on.
