We need to make sure we all understand that and he has yet to hire an agent. If Gordon is serious about wanting to be a first round pick, then I don't see how we will decide to stay in the draft.

<span style="FONT-SIZE: small; FONT-FAMILY: trebuchetms, geneva"><font size="2">Spoke with Mississippi State guard Jamont Gordon a few moments ago, and he said he's on his way to fax paperwork to the NBA that will declare his name eligible for the June 26 NBA Draft.</font></span></p>

<span style="FONT-SIZE: small; FONT-FAMILY: trebuchetms, geneva"><font size="2"> </font></span><span style="FONT-SIZE: small; FONT-FAMILY: trebuchetms, geneva"><font size="2">Gordon reiterated much of last night's FOXSports.com report, but there were a few things on which I wanted to follow. Just to be clear, I said it appeared as if the only two ways he would be wearing a State jersey next year would be if 1) he got hurt before the draft or 2) just wasn't drafted at all.</font></span></p>

<span style="FONT-SIZE: small; FONT-FAMILY: trebuchetms, geneva"><font size="2"> </font></span><span style="FONT-SIZE: small; FONT-FAMILY: trebuchetms, geneva"><font size="2">He said that summary was correct. (In other words, he's planning on staying in the whole way and not withdrawing in June.)</font></span></p>

<span style="FONT-SIZE: small; FONT-FAMILY: trebuchetms, geneva"><font size="2"> </font></span><span style="FONT-SIZE: small; FONT-FAMILY: trebuchetms, geneva"><font size="2">Gordon said it was a tough decision, one made by he and his mother. He said that he had spoken with plenty of people who said he had a good chance of being a first-rounder. Gordon also received this advice from MSU coach Rick Stansbury: "He told me he thought I had a good chance also and he thought I should go."</font></span></p>

<span style="FONT-SIZE: small; FONT-FAMILY: trebuchetms,geneva"><font size="2"> </font></span><span style="FONT-SIZE: small; FONT-FAMILY: trebuchetms,geneva"><font size="2">Stansbury has not returned messages since last night. </font></span></p>

<span style="FONT-SIZE: small; FONT-FAMILY: trebuchetms, geneva"><font size="2"> </font></span><span style="FONT-SIZE: small; FONT-FAMILY: trebuchetms, geneva"><font size="2">Gordon's agenda is now filled with some draft camps and individual workouts. But he told me he is still in Starkville and plans to finish the spring semester at Mississippi State. </font></span></p>

Just guessing, or wishing that Hopson's decision was related to Gordon's.

Truthfully, I just want to see Coach Pearl cry again. *****.

But in order to return doesnt the NCAA make withdraw BEFORE the draft to remain eligible. In other words if you go through the draft and are undrafted, you cant come back.</p>

If you go through the whole draft process without withdrawing before the deadline, but go undrafted in the draft, you become an NBA free agent, BUT you can return to school. The catch is you can bolt anytime you want to sign a contract with an NBA team. Randolph Morris did this a couple years ago. He declared, went undrafted, came back to UK to play the season, and as soon as the season was over he signed with an NBA team, the Knicks I think. Its a loophole that doesn't really get exposed very often.

correct, but you also cant hire an agent. once you hire one, you are gone, no matter what happens on draft day.

God, that would be sweet. Not that I really want Hopson here that bad, but I would love to see TN get the shaft.
