what is very striking is the number of counties supporting bear population. such a high majority of the state has bears. I am not sure how many counties represent large metro areas but between Erie, Pittsburgh, Hershey, Philly and the ABE region that would take out a lot of counties.Got bear tracks in my back yard again. Patton Township. Had one sighted four years by my next door neighbor. Took his bird feeder out. Plenty In Hemlock Farms in Pike Cty. when we had a place there.
And Nepoleon was a big, big man but only stood 5'6".You may know this Glove (you know everything ) but Daniel Boone and Davy Crockett were both believed to be 5'8" tall.
Then my wife Kar probably has a good chance of bringing down a bear. You may know this Glove (you know everything ) but Daniel Boone and Davy Crockett were both believed to be 5'8" tall.

When Bozo was shot by a hunter Monday, he weighed nearly 900 pounds. That made Bozo the largest black bear ever killed in Pennsylvania.
A trophy for David Price, the hunter, the kill was a heartbreak for Lewis.
"I'm devastated. I'm just devastated," he said Friday. "I mean I feel like I lost a friend. He used to come knock on the door when he was hungry."
Price shot the bear with a crossbow on the opening day of Pennsylvania's new archery season for bear hunting. The game commission says Price followed the law when he bagged the giant bear.
Price killed the bear near Lewis' trailer, which sits between Fernwood Resort and the border of the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area. Lewis said he started feeding the bear when it was maybe 2 years old.
"He was just so friendly that I felt like feeding him," he said. "I never felt like I did anything wrong."
The game commission, in fact, thought Lewis was doing wrong by feeding the bear. It cited him in October for feeding wildlife.
A fed bear is a dead bear. You did the right thing.Y'all come on down to Asheville. I see them everyday in the summer. Idiot neighbors think they're "cute" so they feed them table scraps. Finally we had to report the neighbors to DNR. I'm no "Karen" but it got to the point where I couldn't walk my dog, the bears were everywhere!!

I too really enjoy watching the mamas with their cubs. One of the greatest experiences I have had is when a momma bear and her three cubs spent an entire day and night in the big oak tree in our backyard. It was fascinating to watch her protect, nurse and find a way to eventually scale the fence so the cubs and her to leave at 2 am the next day. During the day she stayed close and ventured out a few times to find a way out of the back yard.
I've read, many times, about PA. having the most healthy and larest black-bear population on the North American continent.
So big, that even Canadian hunters come down to hunt the large PA bruins!
