Will you give the man a couple of years? That is ridiculous. You may as well not watch the rest of the year - we aren`t likely to win many. Nothing like unrealistic expectations - he`s not a miracle worker.

Losing is fine. That is bound to happen in the situation. It is the fact that we look totally lost on the offensive side majority of the time with no off ball movement or screens, and just heave up shots with the shot clock running down. There doesn't appear to be a game plan many times. That shouldn't be the case no matter the situation.

I will say that Paris has already won several games this season that Martin would have lost (clem for one) - and I agree, the opposite is true in some games. So it's a push for me right now.

And actually it might be a little in favor of Paris in that it's his first year and Martin was losing games he shouldn't have in year 9.

Martin would not have beaten UAB last night.
In Martin’s defense, he did beat UAB last year and they were solid. Winning games against quality competition wasn’t Martin’s problem. He’s our most successful coach in SEC play. The irony is the OP said Martin would be at least winning these games. The non-conference slate is why Martin isn’t still coaching here and loved by everyone. We did well enough in conference play to go to quite a few NCAA Tourneys…but we couldn’t beat Boston. We got blown out by Coastal. Every season we lost to some really bad teams.

UAB isn’t a bad team. Quite the opposite really. Andy Kennedy has done well there. I’d question the OP’s knowledge of Gamecock Basketball.

Last year, Martin beat a less experinced UAB In Columbia. I don;t believe Martin would have beaten a more experienced UAB in Birmingham. No way to prove it, but its what I believe.

If you arent making the tournament, does it really matter? Maybe the new coach will only make 1 tournament in 8 or 9 years too, but we can at least have some anticipation about what his future may bring. We saw everything we were going to get out of Martin.

Martin would at least b winning these type of games

I watched Martin lose to a hat (Stetson) and a boy and a girl (William and Mary). It was NEVER a given that Martin would win these type games. Plus, that was one of the better Mid-major programs. You must not have read the pregame write up, and you just wanted to come on here and b!tch about something you don't have a clue on...

I don’t think so either. But just pointing out we did beat them, and beat solid teams under Martin. We just always lost to a few really bad teams, which UAB is not a bad team.

This assessment also doesn't take into account that Martin literally dragged any of our experienced players out the door with him. Paris had to start from scratch and the only things able to hold the team together at the moment are GG, who plays like he's young, and Meechie, who just got healthy.

Hate to break it, but UAB is a tournament team. Solid program with veteran players and a great coach. Let's pump the brakes..

Anybody expecting much this year is wasting their time. A quick put together roster won't cut it. I don't think any coach would make waves with this team. All the complaining and bitching in the world won't change the fact they aren't good. Go howl at the moon, it'll do just as much good as knocking this program and coach. Too soon to tell.

We beat Clemson so this year is a success. If our season ends up the way I think it will then our win will also help keep CU out of the tourney as a bad loss.

You'll be able to tell more after this off season....If he can't address the roster lack of talent through the portal and some freshman for next year then I don't think he'll make it...May not be world beaters next year but the talent level must take a big jump up.
