...several models showing a Cat 5 coming ashore around Lake Charles. Tough, tough situation for those guys that went through Rita.

After looking at the imagery, it really seems to be north of the predicted track. If it goes north of the Isle of Youth, between there and Cuba and crosses Cuba further east than predicted.... well, that would be reason to panic for Katrina folks. Every degree of longitude it crosses going west now is huge for the MS GC and NO.

the models always seem to change a good bit when a hurrican gets into the Gulf "proper". In addition, it seems like there is always a hook to the east right before landfall.

It is a bit east of the track, but these major hurricanes wobble a bit, so that can deceive your eyes.

And yes, the more Gus goes north now, the worse the odds for Mississippi.
