Including that he was mid keg stand when BOB called to tell him he was leaving for the NFL on New Years Eve. Start at the 54 minute mark.
This one should work for you but I'll add a couple of cliff notes:Thanks for the link but can you give cliff notes? I don't want to subscribe in order to move ahead to the 54 minute mark.
This one should work for you but I'll add a couple of cliff notes:
-His desire to be a pitcher was overblown. He didn't have the desire to pursue it with the time needed, although he hit the mid 90's on the radar gun
that
-He's really enjoying coaching HS with Bill Belton-
--Saban visited his high school while he was in the middle of a pick up basketball game. Nick walked in while Hack was dunking the ball and said "who's that?" They told him and Saban had him throw a ball 3 times then offered
-Hack's HS coach was instrumental in helping him choose PSU and O'brien
-Said he'd still like to sit down with BOB over beers to discuss how things went down
-Said he was at a party at JMU doing a keg stand when BOB called to tell him he was going to the Texans
-Discussed the offensive line starting two defensive tackles against a very good Temple defense that had 3 guys drafted
-Basically said he fit BOB offense perfectly just like Trace fit the CJF Moorhead offenses perfectly and wishes he had 3 more years with BOB to see where he would have ended up
-Really came off with no regrets and praised our fan base

Good for him. I'll never forgive O'Brien for promising that group of players and their parents in the summer of 2012 (Hack, Brennaman) that if they stuck with their commitments to PSU, he would be there for them their entire 4 years. I guess I'm old fashioned in the sense that I believe you either stand by your promise, or you don't make the promise at all.
I think OB was depending on his name and SB ring to do his recruiting. It worked with Hack and Brenneman but the sanctions hit and PSU became the 3rd rail. It would have been interesting if the recruiting sanctions never happened. OB may have stayed and we'd have a totally different story.Always liked Hack and appreciate his perspective. I really think BOB and Hack could have done great things together and I would have liked BOB to stay a lot longer than he did (if he put half as much effort into recruiting as Franklin does he could have had PSU in a really, really great place).
Thanks for sharing!
That analogy is weak in just about every way possible.Somewhere out there is an old grizzled New England fan that still has not forgiven Paterno for breaking his promise to the Patriots less than twenty four hours after agreeing to be their head coach. I guess Paterno wasn’t old fashioned enough for you either.
For as much grief as fans give Hack I appreciate that he's mostly remained positive about our fans and program. Given all he went through it'd be easy for him to publicly talk trash about his PSU experience and to blame sanctions and coaching changes for his lack of success.
He got a college degree, and he made a small fortune doing what he loved. 99.9% of the kids who put the pads on would kill for what he has done.
He sounds like he's good people. He seems very happy. I'm happy for him.
