Had to laugh…referee ineptness

So last night after our women’s basketball game, I flipped over to check to see the LSU versus Stanford women’s game ending. I was amazed at how much the referees ushered LSU back from defeat. With 16 seconds to go, Stanford up by two and inbounding the ball, Johnson from LSU comes up from behind and knocks the ever living crap out of the Stanford player. It appeared to be she was trying to foul without time running off the clock. The referees said the ball was off Stanford. They do a replay and said the call was confirmed. Now mind you it was one of those call stands type plays, not confirmed. But that’s not even the point. It was a blatant foul as you can’t just run over and through someone from behind to get a ball. Instead of calling the foul, they went with the crowd and gave LSU the ball. LSU won in overtime.

No way you should not have called a foul. It wasn’t even debatable. And of course, the stupid announcers are so excited. They never mention the possibility of a file should’ve been called. They were just happy for overtime. I don’t like Stanford and I don’t like LSU, but it’s sad how referees simply control games nowadays.

I wonder if anyone is keeping stats on officiating "irregularities" and if they've increased with the availibility (and massive promotion of) sports betting? ("Never let a hunch go to waste!" Like that's a good strategy for managing anything of value, much less risking your money)

No way there could be any sort of correlation between them, could there?

Nah, I'm just being silly.

Carry on.

Does the visiting team's conference provide the refs in women's basketball like they usually do in football?

Basketball officiating is just beyond horrendous across the board. It would stretch the games to being 4hrs long, but they should give coaches 5 foul challenges per half. It would be amazing to see how many reversals there would be!

Saw that too. It was obviously an intentional foul to put Stanford on the line. Unbelievable they call it a turnover. The Stanford player did not even make an attempt to retrieve the ball before it went out of bounds.
