Does anyone know anything about Brian O'Connor at UVa? He presents a better resume than Cohen. It appears he was the pitching coach on the Notre Dame team that played in Starkville.
I don't know how much he makes or anything like that and I doubt very seriously we could get him, but this is exactly the reason that an exhaustive national search needs to be conducted. The job (while not nearly as prestigous as it used to be, nor as prestigous as some of our more delusional fans might make it) is good enough that even a cynic must admit that all but a few select coaches would take a phone call from us without laughing us off the phone.
I actually think we should make a back-channel communication with Corbin. It is almost 99% certain that he would say no given his track record, but it doesn't do any harm.
