i looking forward to 2025. Lots big changes for me personally. Retiring from my current job. I’ve worked for the same employer for 32 years and I’ve been in the same office for 21 years (until tomorrow). Starting over do something but I’m not sure what I will do. I’ve got less than 6 months to figure it out.

More than anyone cares about other than me but I’m excited for 2025.

Happy New Year I hope that everyone has a great year regardless of how our dawgs perform.

Happy new year.

Curious - are you trying to remain in the same area of what you did or do something completely new.

Not sure. I‘ve been thinking that I would do something completely new. I might do something with some common work but in a completely different industry or I might cut grass. IDK but whatever I’m looking forward to a new chapter.

I quit my job of 30 plus years the week before the Covid shutdown with the intention of transitioning into something else. It didn’t take long to realize that I didn’t need anything else. Luckily I had planned for just such a day, I just didn’t expect to make the decision as early as I did. No regrets whatsoever.

Happy new year.

Resolution. Try to get in a go somewhere - doi something vac. Doesn't have to be big,but something. Steady stream of college tuition and rent for the last few years. Been taxing, but thankfully behind us now.

Retired two years ago after 40+ years of 60 hour weeks in a corporate office. Don't miss a thing. Enjoying family, hobbies and other activities. Retirement can be a pretty good phase in life.

@NTDawg it sounds like DS is looking for someone to hang flat screens on retainer. Could be a good fit with your lawn mowing to stay busy on rainy days.

Or you could start a wallpaper removal business.

Congrats. Hope to do the same soon. And I hereby declare myself an official resident of the great state of MS again (after > 35 years of exile). Going to start pulling a little out of my retirement & don't want MeeMaw (AL Gov Kay Ivey) getting any. So I moved my vehicles, driver's license, voting registration etc to MS a couple of weeks ago. Got a little sticker shock on tags/insurance (already stunned by property taxes when I bought a home back in 2022). May still do a little consulting once I pull the plug but otherwise just plan to get involved at church, hunt/fish, & be my wife's maid as she won't be retiring any time soon.

Reads to me as though DS is starting to dream about retiring himself (in the not too distant future).

DS is young.

I’d interpreted that as meaning he might be getting a little antsy and may want to explore other options— and I get that.

And quite possibly, I’m projecting my work experiences here. I was feeling stale in my previous gig and at the same time I was in a position where I couldn’t advance and the opportunities to move someplace else weren’t great. I began feeling less stale when I became eligible for state retirement.

I like my current position and I feel refreshed which is great. I hope to work another 10 years— maybe a little more.

Congratulations, retirement should have come earlier for all of us!
