He came out and said the Big2 admitted that the officials screwed up in MSU loss. 1) What calls is he talking about? 2) Did the conference actualy admit they were wrong? 3) Could anyone ever imagine, in your wildest dreams, that the Big2 would admit to PSU that they screwed us!

I’m not totally up to speed on this but do know that one of the calls was the overturning of a MSU fumble that was returned for a Michigan TD.

I’m sure the overturned fumble was one of those calls. There were other questionable calls, including non-PI’s, which hurt Michigan. I watched most of that game and would have to say officials did no favors to the Wolverines.

Hard to imagine Harbaugh complaining about officiating. As you mention, I didn’t see any official announcement by the conference. Actually the conference office admitted the following summer that the officials blew the OSU interception call and the failure to call delay of game after the OSU kicker kicked a FG at least 3 seconds after the time clock expired a few years ago. Poor form here by Harbaugh but I guess the actual motivation is to “warm up” the officials for Saturday’s game with PSU.

Big2 response: "Sorry Jimmy. we really messed up. But no worries...we will more than take care of you this Saturday. We will have Oneill on the field and Witvoet and Honig in the replay booth!"

It would be fantastic if Harbaugh said this and the conference really didn't really admit to anything. It would put them both in a bad spot. 🤣

Alright, I’m asking: has the conference ever once officially stated that specific calls in a specific football game were ruled wrongly? Ever?

I could be wrong, but believe the league office acknowledged a mistake was made which forced PSU to punt on 3rd down in the Auburn game.

Yes. There was an official release from the B1G about a call a few years ago. I think it was for a game involving tOSU, but I'm not certain of that.

The B1G programs have a process where they can submit tape and complaints/seek clarification from the B1G for games reffed by B1G refs. The league office does respond to these things, but it's usually done privately. Most of the time, the coaches keep those replies from the league office private (I don't know if there are any types of obligations to do so, or penalties for not doing so), so they never become public knowledge.

1. Mainly the fumble for a touchdown that was overturned.
2. Not publicly. The story is that the coaches have good communications with the head of officials. Maybe a conference call every week. It's supposed to be kept confidential. It sounds as though Jimmy didn't want to keep it quiet.
3. It'd never happen. Doncha know that the conference never makes mistakes?

Thank you.

So here’s my take: if there is precedent that the conference can ‘fess up and say the refs were wrong, why aren’t they doing so in this Michigan-MSU case, especially since Harbaugh is saying they ‘fessed up to him privately? As far as I’m concerned, there’s been no official backtracking.

Harbaugh came out and said the Big admitted mistakes. Might be a lie as I saw it on the ticker on ESPN yesterday. We know ESPN would never try and create anything!

Maybe it will come back and bite Jimmy in the butt. I would not shed a tear!

Tom:

My memory may fail me but as I pointed out above, I am sure the league office admitted that they blow the OSU interception and failure to call delay of game on an OSU FG during the summer after the game and just before the start of the new season.

And then they awarded the game to Penn State, no wait they fired the officials, or was it they gave them bonuses. Yeah that was it. 😂

Yes, back in 2001 I believe when the referines made 2 "save Michigan" calls that seriously screwed Indiana. Both calls were RB fumbles and were easy to see in real speed. One of them was an obvious fumble by the Michigan RB near Indiana's goal line and UM ended up getting an undeserved TD and the other ridiculous SM call was when the Indiana RB was clearly down and they called it a fumble. This call was inside the Michigan 10 yard line. Both calls were clearly wrong and given the location of the plays, impacted the outcome of the game. The conference issued a statement the following week.
