Sensible move. You have way more roster control in the NFL now.

I'd expect UM will be promoting their OC shortly.

California ain't what it used to be.
Used to be a great place to visit but I wouldn't want to live there - now, I don't even want to visit!

We just went to CA for the first time ever and drove the PCH. I'd go again tomorrow - it was beautiful. Just avoid the big cities.

PCH is great - driven it top to bottom several times.
But stopping in Santa Monica, Manhattan Beach, Laguana Beach was a major part of the LA area experience which is now ruined by Cal politics. Solano Beach, Pacific Beach in San Diego are now crap. SF area is now third world. It didn't used to be this way.

They'll announce his hire next week. Per Michigan law, the job has to be posted for 7 days.

He's getting out of town before the sheriff shows up and Michigan has to vacate their national championship. He knows everything that happened and he knows it is going to come out and he doesn't want to be around when that happens.

I don't know. I doubt the NCAA really wants to come down on one of the bluest blue bloods. With Harbaugh and Stallions being gone, I suspect this will fizzle out.

HIs politics surely won't be a fit there. Very openly pro-life. Gave a speech at the March for Life rally this year.
His convictions are the best thing about him. His brother likewise. But he knows what he's doing. San Diego has some of the best weather there is and he can afford what it costs to live there.

As long as he has a WALL around his compound, he MAY survive. The weather is the least of his worries in a Mexico border state. Particularly California.

Harbaugh leaving hurts college football. It’ll survive, but only leaves 3 coaches with National Titles left. In the past, there was a part of college football that was more attractive to some coaches than NFL jobs. Under the current state of college football, I can’t see that being the case at all.

Harbaugh leaving wasn’t just about the changes to CFB, but I’m sure it helped him make his decision. Especially with the NCAA issues he was having.

I saw an article touching on why he left. Essentially it said the NCAA is investigating Mich for contact with a recruit during the dead period, but HS players are showing up to their signing ceremonies in Lambos. It's ridiculous. I think this is going to be a new trend. Why put up with that if you can go to the NFL and make comparable money? Not everyone will have that opportunity, but I think we're going to start seeing those that can, will. I still say Dabo will be in the NFL within 3 years.

I think that the changes in college football are going to incline many talented college football coaches to seek the relative stability of the NFL. Just get the right owner and GM. You get those and you can build a team.

A system where the head coach has essentially zero roster control will do that.

I don't see Dabo being a good fit in the NFL. NFL players won't buy his goofy cheerleader/youth pastor schtick.

He'll be in the Super Bowl in two years. He's the best coach alive right now.

And he'll do just fine in California. He loves the state and the state loves him.

Yep. Even guys like Saban, Spurrier, and Meyer eventually took a shot at the NFL in the past. But there were a number of coaches that never made the leap. I doubt this next generation of coaches will choose that route, and will take the stability of the NFL. Even if it doesn’t work out, which was often the case in the past, it’s absolutely worth the shot due to the lack of stability in the college game.

He’s certainly going into a good situation too. As many have pointed out, he’s got the QB and 2 hall of fame defensive players. The pieces are there.

These Chargers - Chiefs matchups could be awesome the next few years….much like the Bills - Chiefs have been recently.

His brother is a pretty good coach too. Never thought I’d see anyone rival the Mannings when it came to a Football Family, but the Harbaughs are becoming to coaching what the Mannings were to playing QB.

He dropped the goofy cheerleader schtick years ago. He has morphed into a more serious CEO type.
He’s still pretty goofy. He just sang a song with Klubdik at the ACC Media Day this year. I feel like he’s always been a good recruiter and CEO. Now he’s just dropping all the “gosh darn it to hecks” and imitating Bobby Bowden as much as possible. I think Dabo and Kirby might be the last 2 real college football guys. At least the kind of guys that will have legendary success at one school and never really flirt with the NFL. Time will tell, though.
