Surprised his catch didn’t gain more of your attention. Big time NFL play he made under pressure. He used his big body to go up and get it then got a foot in bounds. Question is, will we try to get him more involved? When and if he’s in man coverage we have to throw him the ball.

I agree with you on all points. It was a great play by him. It’s something that we’ve needed to do for a long time. I have NO confidence that it will be come a regular occurrence.

I'm sure if we had won, Gamecock fans would be blowing up about the play. Just harder to get too worked up about plays in a game that we lose.

I guess the hope is that it shows Harbor is ready to break out. We can all hope so, but time will tell.

I think that him quitting on the route of the last play of the game overshadows any preceding good.

I was livid when I saw him do that but I don’t think he saw the ball or wasn’t expecting it to be thrown to him. Sellers put the ball in the right spot for it to be a TD and should have been. Another thing that surprised me was the lack of effort on his part to tackle the guy that intercepted the ball.

I am not convinced Harbor will be a big-time college receiver. Just don't see it in him.

Wonder if he has the mindset to play defense?

Jury is still very much out. Might be good for the occasional big play but hasn't shown himself to be a reliably every down kind of receiver yet.

Hope this motivates him to be more involved in the game. Some praise and admiration can do that.
Attitude seems very lackadaisical and does not have the ''go get the ball'' attitude a receiver needs to be great.
Needs to work on blocking as well which may be why he is not yet an every down guy.

It took Alshon Jeffrey some time to develop into what he became.

Not saying Harbor will equal Jeffrey, but that we should still be patient for a while longer.

Plus, the fact that he appears to want to avoid contact. Take a look at his blocking on film.
I'm not sure how passionate he is about playing football in general. In HS he was physically dominant against everyone he faced on the field, that isn't the case in college and I don't think he likes it.

He is a track athlete playing football, not a football player who runs track.

But didn't it take him a few games to catch on, and then it was off to to the races?

I don't recall the exact timeline of how many games it took him to get it going, but that was his true freshman season.

Harbor is a sophomore. He obviously could have used every second of practice time at WR this spring and summer, but he gave that time to track.

Obviously, the main difference is that Alshon was a highly rated WR coming out of high school. Nyck is learning the position in college, so it's hard to compare the two. I would not expect Nyck to develop as a college WR at the same pace as Alshon. But we are midway though his second season, and he has mostly been a non-factor up to this point.

Worse, it's midway through his second year and he's still learning route running.

I dunno. Hopefully the catch vs Bama will unlock something going forward.
