Has anyone flown Allegiant and if so what was your experience?

I have point to point. Problem is , say you are going ABE to Ft Laudsrdale and the plane doesn’t fly. Broken or whatever, now what?? You can switch airlines. You can’t say well we’ll take a later flight. There isn’t any. We’ll go tomorrow. You can’t they don’t fly every day.
other than scheduling they are ok.
be where though they charge for everything, a seat, carry on, check though, a soda on the flight Etc

I've flown Allegiant in the past when they had direct ABE-FLL and within the last 2 years. They're just like Spirit and Frontier... nickel-and-dime you. Pay for seat, pay for check-in bag, pay for carry-on, pay to use the bathroom, etc. Minimal customer service.

As others have pointed out, the big problem with them is equipment. If there's a problem with the plane...they ain't Delta with a fleet of aircraft to replace it. You might be delayed days.

Also as others have pointed out, you pay for everything...seat assignments, bags, snacks.

I used to be in the commercial aviation business and I learned something surprising about Allegiant: note that hotel, car and side trip bookings are quite prominent on their website. They are a travel agency that happens to fly planes.

That said I've flown them quite a few times. Comparable to Spirit, Frontier, etc.

Flew them once when they were flying direct from University Park to Sanford/Orlando. Everything others have said is accurate. Additionally the seats were virtually plywood with towels covering them - uncomfortable even as airline seats go. All that said, we were lucky with our trip - no issues with the plane etc. From KUNV to Sanford in like 3 1/2 hours for $250 round trip. I’d do it again but they pulled out of Univ Park for some reason. Not enough volume I believe.

Lately no problems. They used to have awful on time flight record. Much improved. Apparently bought a lot of new planes. Good service to Sanford.

also flown to Sanford. I like the low key airports. Plane was spartan similar to puddle jumper you have for connecting lights to small airports. The return flight did not go out every day, so you had to make the return. not flexible but cheap.

St. Pete's Beach is a favorite getaway for my family. We've flown Allegiant from Pittsburgh to St. Petersburg airport a number of times and have always had a satisfactory experience. Big bonus that they fly to the small-ish St. Petersburg airport rather than the massive Tampa airport -- it's closer to where we want to be and significantly less hassle. Flying out of there is always great, no lines at security.

As others have mentioned, there's less room. For that relatively short flight, though, it's not too bad. The savings and convenience of the airport more than make up for the mild discomfort.
