Mack Brown said they only prepared for DJ because they didn’t think Clemson would make the change. Personally, I don’t know how Clemson couldn’t make it after last week if DJ struggled. Mack must have thought Dabo was extremely stubborn…which he was. But beyond all comprehension.

Can’t imagine DJ will stick around. Probably hear his name this week.

You took the words right off my keyboard.😊
I begin to think the same thing.....then I remember when he subbed for Trevor, he left you thinking "Uh, oh....they have another one coming up." It's tough to be "THE MAN," In his first three to five games this year, he resembled shades of his first year.....then beginning with either the UND game or the Syracuse game, he fell apart. My BIL thinks it has more to do with the coaching than DJs ability....as they lost the 2 Co-OCs they had and promoted Streeter. I don't think many Clemson fans truly believe their replacement coaches at OC and DC are anywhere near as good as those they replaced.

DJ still has the tools to be a top tier QB but he's totally lost his confidence recently. He's been outstanding at times throughout his career but obviously very inconsistent. Sometimes a change will do you good. I'd be fairly surprised if Cade starts in the bowl game if he doesn't hit the portal.

I believe the boy they ran out there last night has more football wherewithal than D.J. ever had. I'm being kind.

DJ's first year stats: 78-117 (66.7%) - 914 yds, 5 TDs - 0 Int, 146.4 QB rating
Cade's first year stats: 31-46 (67.4%) - 377 yds, 2 TDs - 1 Int, 146.2 rating

Which is better?

DJ certainly threw more passes. Dabo couldn’t have gotten any luckier getting to insert Klubnik into a game vs a TERRIBLE DEFENSE. UNC is HORRIBLE on D and have been since Brown has been in Chapel Hill.

Agree. Don't think Klubnik would have performed nearly as well against us or UND or any other team with a fairly stout defense.

DJ got to play two full games in addition to backup time. Cade only got a partial of one game.

But the point stands, DJ looked good that freshman year, then fell apart.

True....and kinda my point....he had the pressure of being a starter twice during his first year. Cade has yet to experience that. No one can possibly know who would be better. Based on 1st year performance, I would have bet on DJ.

Yeah, I didn't see much of those two games, but I remember my clemson friends being oretty excited about his future.

I have a hard time banking on clemson missing badly on two straight 5 stars though. One happens, but two in a row?

Limited sample size. What matters is now, hence, the snapshot is the better barometer now. Cade's is sharp; DJ's is fuzzy. Bear in mind, D.J. got to start last night. He had a chance at redemption. Once again, he was unproductive and visibly deficient. If anyone ever played himself onto the bench, D.J. did. Maybe the kid will struggle in the bowl and maybe D.J. will be the savior, but Dabo would be a fool not to ride the kid at this time.

If Bo Nix, of all people, could turn his career around with a transfer, then DJ can too. His confidence is shot right now, and that falls on the coaches as much as on DJ. Will be interesting to see.

UNCs defense is bad. I mean really bad. App St with their old QB Chase Bryce dropped 61 on them. Klubnik is definitely better than DJU, but beating up on that defense doesn't make him a Heisman candidate.

How much money will he lose by transferring?
If I remember correctly he has a big NIL with Dr. Pepper. Does NIL follow him to new school?

Their string of having "a better one" in waiting came to an end with him. Then it restarted with Klubnic.
