Has to be Micah. He played offense in high school. Clearly he is more well-rounded.
Good point. That means, however, that LaVar should really be in the mix.

Arrington ran for 4,400 career yards at North Hills High (becoming the first player in Pennsylvania Class AAAA history to rush for more than 4,000 yards) and 72 touchdowns. He had 18 touchdowns and caught 11 passes for 122 yards in his senior season, 1996. He finished his scholastic football career with 342 tackles on defense. Out of the 12 fumbles Arrington forced, he recovered six and also picked off eight passes.

Tough choice.

And that’s relevant how exactly? They are/were good football players, and they’re Penn Staters. What criteria could possibly be more important?

Analogy is by definition a weak form of argument, and that's a weak analogy. People will probably jump all over him on the seven year thing. Obviously, he doesn't have seven years to get it done there. Better off avoiding that analogy. I wish him well. He seems like a stand up guy, a genuine person. He just doesn't seem happy in the NFL. All kidding aside, I thought he'd always be an excellent college coach.

Agree. What he did at Baylor amid all the smoke there was fantastic. I wouldn't doubt he'll make a stop at PSU before he's done coaching. The NFL experience he's gaining can be a great recruiting tool moving forward if he chooses to head back to the college game at some point.

Amazing play, especially for a rookie. Has he earned a spot on Franklin’s coaching staff yet?

Different scenario: If Parsons puts together a 10-year HOF career, does he become head football coach at PSU?

Only if someone from the board first sees him at the Tavern.

The biggest question is would he hire Sean Lee or Poz for the LB coach?
Brandon Smith, if the NFL doesn’t work out. Solid fundamentals - wrapping up, not over-running a play, gap discipline - he’s got it all!

If he can't convince 5 star qbs to commit forget about it.

Wasn't he a power running back? The kind that could punch out a first down or TD in short yardage situations?

Franklin doesn't have an opening for that, thus the move to LB.

Then we wouldn’t have to worry about Micah converting all the good players on offense to linebacker.
Add Jim Kelly as LB coach

Kelly was offered a scholarship to play
college football at Penn State University under coach Joe Paterno, but Paterno wanted Kelly at linebacker, not quarterback.[7]

Is it true you wanted to attend Penn State, but they only wanted you as a linebacker?

Kelly grew up dreaming of playing quarterback at Penn State. Instead, he wound up leading Miami past the Nittany Lions in his first collegiate start.

I went to their camp my junior and senior years [in high school]. Where I'm from, you're either Pitt or Penn State, and I'd always been a big Penn State fan. My parents and grandparents wanted me to go to Notre Dame, but I really wanted to play for Penn State. Then, just before national signing day, they called and said they'd already signed two all-state quarterbacks but they'd still give me a full ride if I wanted to come there as a linebacker.

And I was being recruited as a linebacker, too, out of high school. But, mostly, everybody knew that I wanted to play quarterback. So, of course, I said, "Thanks, but no thanks." Then I went down to the University of Miami, and my first start my freshman year was at Penn State, and coach [Howard Schnellenberger] didn't tell me I was starting until about three hours before the game. First thing I did was I threw up. ... But we upset Penn State.
