Has the Maui Fire been totally forgotten and erased from US history?

Haven't seen much in the way of updates. This was released yesterday in an attempt to meet mandated deadlines for release.

There have been so many tragedies it seems we just roll from one to another one. Granted some are worse than others but our society seems immersed in one event after another. It'd mind boggling. Hard to concentrate on just one.

Not if you’re in Maui. But after the initial story, it then became “local news.” And there’s not really any reason for it to be “national news.”

I’m sure if you go to some local Maui news sources, you can find plenty to read about.

I would say it depends on the extent to which an event is seen as directly affecting people's lives. A devastating fire in a small town in the Pacific Rim (I've been there) will not have the residual affect of a 9/11, which called into question our nation's security and disrupted the lives of millions of people.

Well, at the men’s basketball last night, all proceeds from ticket sales went to a Maui relief fund.

How about the mass killing in Vegas?

What about it? It happened, and then another mass killing happened. And another. And another. Mass killings have a media shelf life of about a week now. The incident gets reported, profiles of the victims roll in over the next week, then it's on to the next one.

Regrettably, this rings true. School shootings are the worst, but even their effects are ephemeral - unless one happens in your hometown - provided it's a small close-knit town.

The $700 gov't payment certainly needs to be supplemented, as it was a joke to begin with.

The way the Maui event was handled, gov't response and disaster relief in particular, as well as suspicions surrounding lack of warnings and the origins of the fire are worth further national scrutiny, as this type of event could occur anywhere on the mainland. Lack of transparency is always concerning.

Why is the fbi always involved with these shootings. And why are they so sloppy about the details. Search about who was on the next floor up when this went down.

It's the FBI's job to investigate violent crimes. Just like it's their job to investigate bank robberies, terrorism, cyber crimes, etc. I've actually had to deal with the FBI on a number of different kind of cases that fall under their purview.

As for sloppy about details - they're government workers. What do you expect?

Why would the investigate themselves? Hence the reason of the cover up.

But not universally compelling.

Only the brainwashed think it's not galvanizing. It's pretty obvious.
I edited my post to say "compelling". It's not that, either, however much you want it to be. What doesn't hit home misses. Always has; always will.

So, we all say, 'oh well', and let the unexplained evaporate into thin air - never to be answered?
There is no such thing as an 'investigative journalist' anymore - journalism today is mostly propaganda.

Pretty much if it depends on "us". "We" aren't principals in this. We would be if it happened in, say, Beaufort. But I expect that political heat will be turned up to such an extent that legislative hearings will be held in Hawaii and some people will be brought down thereby.

There are a lot of people not from Maui and Las Vegas that have investigated those incidents. But the powers that be on platforms like this usually don't like what is being reported and usually deleted threads and people research. Classic censorship.

Has all the appearances of ''imminent domain'' in disguise and seizure of private property under the cover of a ''natural disaster'' for a gov't payment of a measly $700 offered to property owners under duress.

Wonder if someone thought the same thing and rejected the payment.

Well, this one seems to be holding up. I only concern myself with where I post. I really think this thread is inappropriate on a sports forum but the powers-that-be seem content to let it run. You should count your blessings.

As of your post it's at 29. That's nothing. Some people are scared I get it.

Truth, Justice and the American Way is near extinction - which is the long-term Marxist goal.
