Will not only be the second largest HD board in college and the largest in the SEC, it will be the 4th largest HD board in the WORLD. The 4 largest will be the KC Royals, Pro Player Stadium in Miami (Dolphins Stadium), University of Texas (Godzilla-tron), and Mississippi State. The story should be up on this tomorrow on the Junction. Pretty damn impressive for little ole Mississippi State.

The first thing that came to mind was that surely the Braves scoreboard is larger than ours. That sucker is massive. I checked their website and their screen measures 80 x 72 (5760 sq. ft). Here is the source. Look down at BravesVision. Anyhow, ours measures 111 x 47 (5217 sq ft.) - a good bit smaller.

This is all assuming by board you mean the actual visible screen and not all the crap that's around it - which is all I would really care about when comparing HD board sizes.

That will stand all of a few months. The Cowboys new stadium with have 2 that will be larger and the Washington Nationals HD board is already bigger than ours will be.

The braves board is not "HD" so it is not included. I don't know why the Nats got left off.

To get **** like this done, things have to be in the works for months - from proposals, to securing funds, to design drawings and approvals, to permit approvals, to construction bids, all kinds of **** goes on before construction actually begins. So that means that the actual decision to go forward with getting a new board came long ago, when LT had his no-lipped *** planted firmly in the AD's chair.

such large HD boards. (Ours is 1 foot bigger though) We were the first in the SEC to get jumbotrons back in 97 and look where everyone else went. I bet in 5 years we will have the smallest in the SEC other than Vandy and Ole Miss (by 1 foot). Enjoy the crowing now. Anything however is better than the tiny tron we have now. Now if we can only find a P.A. announcer.........

for all intents and purposes, they will be almost exactly the same size. Right now, all I care about is that they will be a shitload better than the current ones.

Which should fit in proportionally well with your stadium. Coincidentally, I am putting in a 84" flatscreen in my 12' x 15' den that just has a hell of a picture. Biggest one on my street. I win.

hahaha.....just screwin' with you guys. Damn thing is a Godzillatron, though.

what the actual replay portion of the board will be. Again, semantics. Anything is better than the current models.

the original spec was only 1' longer..but we found out ..ooops..the seal building is wider than that..and we had to make it longer...oh so sad.

people complain for no reason - I think this is one of those cases. Who cares if it overwhelms??

We're just trying to be nice. If State and Ole Miss fans weren't competitive with each other, it would be the worst rivalry ever. And that usually extends to everything, i.e. who has the better IPF, nicer campus, hotter chicks, less alumni in jail, etc. OM's screen will be awesome, but I for one care that ours is a little bit bigger. I think it's cool. We all do inside- if we didn't we wouldn't be talking about it. They have the bigger stadium, and I wish we did instead. It's just like with recruiting, nobody "cares" but when somebody posts about a new 4-star commit, we all read it.

I guess you have problems clicking links and reading...

No wonder Ole Miss is the #2 Party school, they forget to teach reading comprehension among other things at the Harvard of the South.

I remember being impressed by the digital, monochrome video display we had on the scoreboard in the 80s. Remember the display with half a player sliding across the bottom of the screen and catching a pass? Now, look at what we will have.

But having to been to Arkansas' stadium, their video screen does grab your attention. It is 107'x30'. It adds alot to the atmosphere though. Ours will dominate the stadium more than theirs does. However, it will be a great addition to our atmospher also. Not to mention, give the stadium more of a modern feel and look.

I thought I read somewhere that the State is getting there board for less than Ole Miss. With the difference in the size how is that possible?

We're better negotiators. I think that comes from our top 30 ranked business school.

I don't know, that just seems high for any state school in the south. I could easily be wrong though.

Or did I just miss some serious sarcasm? It's the end of the month at work, hectic.

Reading / reading comprehension is not a prerequisite for admission to our school. We all has a crayon over here.

but I don't like jumbotrons at football games. I accept that I'm probably alone in that regard. If we have to have one, I would prefer that it be top quality, an aesthetic addition to the stadium and pretty damn big, rather than be gigantic and cheap looking..

What is the back of this thing going to look like? Are we just going to be looking at an absolutely massive blank wall from the Junction? That should be a good opportunity for some additional ad revenue.

Yeah, it was sarcasm. There was a debate on here a few weeks ago about whether State or Ole Miss had the better business school, and some guy from Nafoom came on here and swore that Ole Miss was top 30.

Can someone post the picture of the scoreboard that was created to show its actual size over the M Club building? My wife wants to see it...
