So ive been sitting here thinking about the season and to me it just seems so obvious that we have to have this HD board done by the Auburn game. Basically im wondering if anyone has any nuggets about if this is a possibility, surely our bright new AD realizes that revealing this thing on National TV would be special...im just picturing us 2-0 (god willing) a 6 oclock kickoff, not a seat to be had, ESPN national coverage for a game that is going to have a huge impact on the outcome of our season and then suddenly the chimes of a belltower ring from our new speaker system and a badA pregame video bust out when no one is expecting it...

am i dreaming or is this a possibility at all, they have to realize that this could be a special night for MSU and do whatever it takes to get it done, I think you could kinda compare it to georgia last year ripping off their red to reveal the black...Davis Wade would go nuts

any chance?

Its more or less the shipping and getting the supplies and parts needed for construction that takes the longest. I want to say I read that it would take somewhere along the lines of the month to get everything in, which, by my count, everthing should be coming in soon.

thats what bugs me we knew we were getting this and we should have had it ready to go for national tv...but if everything comes in can they not just turn on the lights and get it done?

I wish it was that easy. It isn't just a giant tv ready to be placed and plugged it. The <17>er has to be constructed.

my problem hasn't really been the size of our board but the pathetic manner in which they use it. So, pushing for a faster completion date for zero decent content doesn't make me feel much better. Maybe Byrne can improve this.

the completion date shouldnt have anything to do with the content...we just need somebody who knows what they are doing to put together the pregame piece and realize that no one gets pumped up with a black and white clip from 1951 or whatever, theres 4 or 5 songs that you just cant go wrong with just put one of those with highlights of the last 4 years starting w our win over florida (all in the croom era)...maybe flash pictures of the coaches that have been croomed...so many things you could do hopefully they wont screw it up

I went to the Union County send off party last night, and Greg Byrne was the speaker, nice guy by the way. His exact words were "middle to late October" on having the video board up and going. Greg Byrne, nice guy.</p>

There is nothing wrong with a black and white pregame video. There is room for improvement though. What is your suggestion Fdawg?

been used properly. To be honest, it has been so long since I have seen it done correctly I dont know when it should be used.

If his/her username was "Iamallforphallichumor" then it could have been ironic.

That is a clip from the Egg Bowl in 1941, the only year MSU won a SEC Championship, which I think qualifies for being a highlight in an otherwise dark history.

appropriate?

Edit: I don't know. I sure as hell am no expert on literary devices. However, the fact that someone with Bone in their user name not wishing to debate who can get theirs up faster. I think that could qaulify as irony. I think it is a stretch, though.

Neither Bonedaddy's post nor saltybulldog's example are ironic.

Irony is the <span style="font-style: italic;">opposite</span> of what you'd expect, i.e. if it turned out bonedaddy was a woman, or if porkchop was a vegetarian.

a person with the username <span style="font-style: italic;">"Iamallforphallichumor"</span> requesting and end to a conversation involving phallic humor be the opposite of what you would expect.<span style="font-style: italic;"> </span>

I give up.

I dont have a problem with the old black and white game film but I do however have a problem with the pregame band highlight film to Eminem. That has got to go.

our "little board" ? haha ya'lls is only a few feet larger, and atleast we have one part of our stadium connected, its pretty sad how often UM/MSU try to one up each other...reminds me of the bud light commercials a few yrs back, cant remember what the guys name was but it was about this dude that always had or had done something to one up the other guy....both boards will be huge and a helluva lot better than the old one's

I can just see us !*+$$+@ this pre game up real bad.

Example: Playing heavy rock music or rap at the opening of the video, not being able to hear it, playing who let the dawgs out, giving the microphone to a cheerleader, not letting Will Ferrell open up on a cowbell

We could also make it real bad ***. Knowing our history, we most likely screw it up.

Concerning content on the new HD screen, how about broadcasting live Croom's pregame pep talk to the team?

Really bad idea. The speakers would blow out trying to broadcast his voice.
