Helmet logo decal - here's an improvement on the current one.

I like this logo as a helmet decal. My biggest beef with the current one is it's so static -- perfectly square 2D images don't look right on spherical objects like a helmet. The proposed M-State logo (option #F) is dynamic and has a little bit of a forward tilt to it (or backward, depending open which side it's on). You can tweak the "M" a little, but overall I think it brings MSU into the 21st century branding-wise.

Drawbacks: because it is so stylized it may looked dated in a decades time. Also it so different than the current logo, it will make those logos feel dated almost immediately.

</p>Miami of Ohio has already beaten us to that M style.

Edit to add:
That MState logo looks like a cross between Miami of Ohio and Oklahoma St.

Wisconsin that stole their logo (or vice versa).

The M's are similar but not the same. Are we trying to reinvent the wheel or come up with a cooler helmet logo?

If "cooler" was the object, then they failed. All of them look cheap but in all honesty, there's not much you can do with M and the word State.</p>

I agree. I think the MState logo would look much better on the helmet if was made larger and round along the top to match the curvature of the top of the helmet. I would like to see that photoshopped.

It pleases aesthetically while also not being too great a diversion from what we currently have.

So we update without losing much marketing ground the current M-State has gained.

I read a "georgia's traditions" page once, and it made me laugh because it said something to the effect of:

'One of the most <span style="font-weight: bold;">unique</span> and recognizable traditions is the oval G. (Insert name coach or university official from years past here) saw this being used by the Green Bay Packers and brought it to Georgia.'

That looks a little too Arena League for my tastes. That's probably why we won't do anything radically different -- too many change averse people surrounding the athletic department.

i like helmet logos that flow from the front of the helmet. if you can follow what i mean by that. auburn's AU, tenn's T, texas's horns, the vikings' horns, the jaguars' logo, even the bengals' stripes, etc., all look the same on both sides, and flow from front to back the same. the m-state we have now actually does this, because the letters in "state" are all-caps. i think if you're going to have script on the sides, it should be in all caps, to keep the same style.

for this reason, i don't like florida's "Gators", um's script, and this was my one beef with the nike interlocking msu (and msj). on one side of the helmet, the m was closest to the facemask, and on the other side, it wasn't. call me picky, i just think it looks better like the ones above.

i really like the baseball ms, and it happens to look the same on either side of the helmet. other than that, i like the nike logo (or msj), because it was intimidating and it was ours. the mstate, although symmetrical, has never looked right on a helmet to me.

that change is equally unimpressive as what we have now. whats with the gay ribbon fetish? why do we feel like we have to have a ribbon on our helmet. i say keep what we got as a university logo, but just not on the helmet. the helmet is the issue, not the m-state logo itself</p>
