There’s a sucker born every minute, so I’m sure some will do it.

Last thing I’m gonna be doing is standing in front of my tv with a phone so I can scan some dude’s helmet.

Mark it down: this will become a metric. They will track in-game NIL donations and show how they spike after big plays and such.

I could see a kid having a huge game and a bunch of drunk people start shooting him money. For 95% of the players, it won’t mean a thing.

What will be really interesting is to see how television handles this. How often will they be sure to get a clear view of the QR Code to be scanned? Is it something they’ll actually give attention to?

You better believe a players scores a TD and just turns his back to the camera and points to the QR Code.

This is all going crazy. What happened to the "the athletic departments won't have anything to do with your NIL agreements" rule?

If this happens to work, it's just a matter of time before pro teams start to do the same thing. Why wouldn't owners allow the fans to directly compensate their favorite players?

Won't work unless TV coverage participates. I mean it has to be on screen for several seconds to allow drunks enough time to scan the screen. TV could just display the player's QR code in the corner of the screen during instant replay. I heard that college teams are hiring general managers to deal with NIL because the coaches don't want to. Where will this end?

Prepare to see on-field interviews with star players after huge wins where the player figures out a way to prop the back of his helmet on his shoulder for the entire interview.

I don't think the QR codes are for the individual player. It's to donate to the Oklahoma State general collective.

Then they definitely don't need it on every helmet. I don't like the word "collective". They're acting as a middle man and I'm sure they're taking their "cut". Eliminate the middle man. Fans should be able to give their money directly to whomever they decide to. Not some "collective".

We could have live, in-game graphs of donations per player.

I think there's already way too many graphics on the screen during the game as it is. When ESPN2 first started the continuous crawl at the bottom I found it too distracting. I put masking tape over it.

I have found myself growing accustomed to it. I agree, hated it to begin with. But I have found it useful.

I am still not liking the Fox's attempt at different graphics on the team names and scores. Maybe it'll grow on me, but so far it's just annoying.

And when they interview a coach or player during live action they shrink the game screen because... I guess they think it's necessary to have to see as well as hear the interview.

Agreed. The game is the important thing. Pit the stupid interview in the top corner, VERY small.

Agree. After reading your post, I went back and read the article again and that's what it sounds like.

I don't believe donations directly to an individual player like that would be kosher.
