I expect he will never be a head coach anywhere at D1 level

He had his heart set on TAM and hasn’t been the same since, I imagine TAM regents are grateful they revolted, kudos to them

The fact that Sumrall had P4 job opportunities end of last season and didn't pursue them, made me suspect that what you are suggesting actually took place last year. Maybe some of that is wishful thinking but I heard he would have likely got the UNC job for one prior to their pursuing Belichick.
