Here is something always fun to discuss....Rutgers athletics in a huge deficit....

“NorthJersey.com reporters Jean Rimbach and Abbott Koloff revealed that Rutgers athletics had lost far more than it reported to the NCAA in annual reports, showing its debt had grown to more than $250 million — with half of that being loans to cover operating deficits.”

”What our reporters found by creating dozens of spreadsheets, based on audits, cash flow statements, and debt schedules, was an alarming — and until now hidden — flow of state government, taxpayer and student money to athletics. Losses were more than $73 million two years running, followed by $60 million in 2022.”

I’m sure it’s all just a misunderstanding.

I knew you would be quick to respond.

Now, we just have to wait for @GrimReaper

Nothing new here, ro. This is what happens when the inmates are given the keys to the asylum, or more precisely the asylum's debit card and PIN. Don't delude yourself that other universities, including PSU, aren't on the threshold of marching down the same path.

Yeah, but Success With Honor. That’s why we had Sandy.

I’m guessing you could replace rutgres with Penn State and have a similar story. Sandy had this.
Sandy with all her proliferate behavior was a piker compared to these guys. This is money laundering at its finest. I would venture to say that every politician in New Jersey has his or her hand in the pie. No disrespect intended, but college administrators just aren’t smart or ballsy enough to pull this off.

I guess they don't have Econ Classes at RU. That is a deep hole and it looks like they are throwing more dirt on top of themselves.

Penn State needs to step up its game.

That's spelled $ucce$$. And while it may come as a shock to many of you that I write this, Sandy was a relatively small component of the problem.
Shocking to me would be having a corncob shoved up my a$$.
Been around a while on this planet, will be either 73 or 74 yrs old …I think.
Don't have enough fingers to count from 49’ to 2023.

Hello Rutgers, my old friend.
It’s fairly common knowledge that Rutgers and its football team’s supporters despise Penn State a considerable amount. Of course, plenty of other fanbases share a similar disdain for Dear Old State, but it’s those other fanbases — Ohio State, Michigan, etc. — that make sense. To be frank, I understand it, and those fanbases express their animosity with an element of respect.
Here’s what I don’t get: the sheer hate Rutgers has for Penn State’s program, and the vulgar, childish manner in which it is displayed. Rutgers alumnus Scott Logan penned this piece in order to get the fanbase to reassess its behavior, as if he’s a parent that has to reprimand his child.
Thank you Scott, for showing some class and respect. But Rutgers, that’s not good enough.

I guess all this means that rutgres athletic supporters can’t argue that their lack of success on the field is due to their administration not selling their souls, as though rutgres is above is all.

You gotta love this quote from Rakim Jarrett:

“I think I could have (played in the season finale), but I would have had to brace it up. But it was Rutgers. They didn’t need me,” he said, according to the Washington Post, which added that the remark drew laughter from reporters. “Sorry, Rutgers.”

Sounds a lot like Wisconsin in the 1980s when they were almost belly up financially.

Could this article be a "test flag" for the Big 10 front office to see if the Rutgers brand still brings the eyeballs to the t.v., or is there another team that they could quietly push Rutgers out the door and replace them with someone more competitive. Always have to upgrade the brand to stay ahead in the cash cow media broadcasting rights.

will Rutgers demand reparations from us for stealing their talent?

I'm not sure the NYC market, in general, cares much about college football (what "local" team would they follow? Fordham? Columbia? Syracuse?). Rutgers was never the program to bring them into the fold (wishful thinking by the BIG).

In so many ways, no.
