how many assts have been promoted to head coach in a losing program? Our program is obviously down, even with last years miracle.

Can anyone think of some assistants that have been promoted in college from teams with losing records?

Not off the top of my head.

There probably are some schools like Air Force that have promoted assistants, but that's because they don't care. Your point is well taken, though.

I think we actually have a normal AD and will make normal decisions like other schools.

Our current baseball situation is somewhat different from those 3 you mentioned:

Tyler and Williams took a job nobody wanted. We basically had no choice to hire these people. To show you how bad it was in basketball, my head coach in HS (Richard Duese at MRA) interviewed for the job.
Stansbury was hired just 2 years after our most successful seasons in school history. While we made the Series in baseball, we have had losing conf records 4 of the last 5 years. This isnt a very successful run for us, and actually we are at a low point.

He was an assistant at Mississippi and was Vaught's chosen replacement, but the UM administration hired Kennard instead.
