Just wanted to say I like your board. It reminds me of my favorite Eagle board... we're the one that doesn't turn our head from ugly truths, we face 'em head on. If you want proof of that, head to EaglePost and check out some of the threads from hoops season and our late-season ****-our-pants in baseball.

I confess I'm puzzled by last night's outcome. You guys are a better team than that, but you all know that. From what I've read, you all see the problem as being the coaching staff and not the talent on the playing field. Welcome to the world of Golden Eagle football for the past 6 years of so. Believe me, we've been there.

Giving Bower the boot was the best thing we've ever done... regardless of how things pan out. I'm as proud of my school as you are of yours, and it hurt to see the fan apathy that had set in after years of coaching mediocrity. I don't know what the Fedora era will bring, but the man set a school record for yardage in his very first game at the helm. OK, so the opposition wasn't the defending NC, but still there's reason to be encouraged. The D needs to man up, however.

We're not losing our heads (yet... well most of us anyway). I still believe that seven wins will be cause for celebration considering the monumental change that is taking place. Our game with Auburn will tell a lot. I'm not foolish enough to predict a win, but we really need not to get blown out.

Anyway, just wanted to say... I feel the pain. Last night was as embarrassing for you as our loss to Rice (F'in RICE!) last season. And, who knows, it could be the catalyst for change.

I hope our Hoops coach followed the lesson from Bower, because he's next if he doesn't get his act together this year.

Y'all seem like cool folks on this board. Best wishes, Tonto

Auburn will put an end to the delusional Miss Southern fans that think beating Louisiana Laffy means anything. Fedora will either struggle and have the Buzzards pebble stadium half empty as usual or either he will win and run from that place as fast as he can when the first offer shows up.

I'm not a great writer, and I'm sorry if I struck some raw nerves today. What I was trying to say is this:

I'm sorry you started the season with a tough loss.
It sounds (from your posts) that you are disappointed in the quality of your coaching.
We were disappointed with our coach, too, and we ran his *** off. FINALLY.
We're glad we did. You should consider it.
We're glad we started with a good win, but we're cautious about our prospects over the season.
I hope things turn around for the Bulldogs.

See... nothing snotty in the whole message.

To address one of the other sentiments expressed: I don't know how long Fedora will stay with us, and I don't care so long as he accomplishes his primary mission of bring back some remote sense of pride and excitement on the football field. If he does that and is gone in three years, then good luck to him.

The only mild stick in the eye I'm sending your way is this: It may have taken years, but we finally dumped the cause of our difficulties, but you just gave yours a contract extension and a raise, didn't you? I promise you, if the fan base howls loud enough, the administration will listen.

As on SEC outsider looking in, I find it hilarious that MSU would travel TO La Tech yet they won't travel to Hattiesburg to play Southern Miss. What a game that would be for the state of Miss. But its pretty obvious why MSU doesn't go to Hattiesburg, they would kick the **** out of you guys. Auburn is going to have their hands full with Southern Miss, and might even get upset. The whole "nothing to gain" argument doesn't hold water, especially after that **** i watched last night in Ruston.

No need to get into that old argument. It never gets anyone anywhere.

As for our game with Auburn... I hope we don't get blown out. Of course, I hope for an upset win, but I'm not putting any money on it. We'll be ready one day to go head-to-head with the best, but I don't think it will be next week. The weakness of our schedule over the past years has disguised the fact that our football fortunes have tumbled dramatically. We're just embarking on a major rebuilding effort, off to a good start, but a long way to go.

Good try idiot, not a Southern Miss fan. My school is in the SEC, you know that conference that gives you that huge welfare check and is currently laughing their asses off at your team.

I would talk **** to Mother Teresa right now I am so pissed off. Again, go to hell southern miss. Us and Ole Miss could give a **** less about you. Get off this board, board up your windows, and go hang out with the trashy douche bags that go to your joke of a school.

Hey, it's all cool. And, to be honest, if one of y'all came to our board with fair and reasonable intentions, there are a couple of folks over there that would still respond in an *******-ish manner to you, too. There's a long history of general animosity, but most sane people don't hope for tornadoes to level your school or anything like that. In any event, I'm a big boy, so I can take it.

I do have to say this. The fact that you don't have an organized gang on the way to rape and pillage the Tech campus speaks volumes about your control of emotions. A little post-game smack talk never hurt anybody.. but some of these guys that have come over to your place today are in the U of Hawaii league of ********. I respect my school and myself WAY too much to represent the way they have. Truly CLASSLESS.
