of an MSU commitment, or likely commitment.

I'm only going back as far as I can remember:

Brian Darden- Went to UT, thought to be their next stud TB, ends up at DB and then Jackson State.

Kirk Presley- Went pro in baseball, blew out his arm in American Legion ball after commiting as a QB.

Jason Campbell- Survived, went on to QB Auburn to 13-0 season and is starting for the Redskins.

Doug Buckles- After being one of the most sought after players in Ms., went to Ole Miss, and is most known for tripping Eli Manning in the 2003 LSU game and being an Internet legend- ie Buckles will be a Bulldog.

Blake Barnes- Went to UGA and did nothing. Possible sighting at Delta State where he may be fighting for a spot ont the team.

Josh McNeil- starting at UT and has a good chance to go to the NFL, but also got the <17> beat out of him by a DB at a frat party.

Jimmy Johns- Went to Bama after being promised that he would play QB for them. Last seen getting the <17> knocked out of him by DeMon Glanton on ST. Has only taken one snap to date at QB.

Kenny Ashley- Commited to State, then stolen away at the last minute by USC, didn't qualify, and then proceeded to fall off of the face of the Earth.

Richard Dickson- Role player at LSU. Still has a chance to do something. Jury still out.

Andre Wadley- Jury still out.

Alonzo Lawrence- Jury still out.

So, Mr. Garrett, based on the past history of people double crossing MSU, you might want to pray to God again. All I'm saying is Croom is a Christian and Gary Crowton, the OC at LSU is Morman, dum, dum, da dum, dum, dum. <Southpark>

Edit for McNeil.

When looking in the hat, Joseph Smill clearly sees Chris Garretts future at LSU

Here's one you forgot:

Hugh Green. Signed SEC letter-of-intent to MSU, but was lured to Pittsburgh. He was a three-time All-America. Runner-up for the Heisman Trophy and winner of the Walter Camp, Maxwell, and Lombardi Awards in 1980. Appeared in two Pro Bowls in an eleven-year NFL career. Member of the College Football Hall of Fame.

(Thanks, Jackie.)

in that very same class was that "can't miss that did" Rooster Jones.

RB from Natchez that went north with Hugh Green.

the blurb on Jimmy Johns. Not only did he take the bait on Shula's QB promise, he went on to fail as a RB as well. He is now running second or third team LB this spring.

Congratulations, Jimmy, on your decision.

Richard Dickson- Role player at LSU. Still has a chance to do something. Jury still out.
but are you talking about the Richard Dickson that is the starting TE at LSU in 2007 as a sophomore (ahead of two SRs)? The same Richard Dickson that caught 32 passes for nearly 400 yards (11.7 ypc) and 5 TDs? The one that has a NC ring on his finger? This is the Richard Dickson that was a 2006 2nd team all SEC.

I get the point you are making, but Dickson should really have been left out of your argument.

but has the Croom Coast thrown 32 passes to the TE position in his 4 years combined?

No TE prospect in Mississippi should be blamed for looking elsewhere.

Barnes, Lawrence and Campbell were never thought to be going to MSU at any point. Most are just legacies and only one person really thought Buckles was going to State. And I really don't remember Darden ever considering us but didn't really keep up with recruiting then.

he did consider us and we laid out the red carpet along with his jersey number....i remember him signing autographs in clinton at the all star game in which he was not a part of....just in the stands going around signing autographs....weird.

He was from Pascagoula, not Natchez. And he did start at Pitt for a whole. I still remember as a kid seeing him on national TV when they had each starting player introduce himself. He could barely even pronounce his own name.

but I did talk to Buckles Grandfather who told me that he was a big State fan and was going to go there if State offered. Also, Mother went to MSU.

We should have been able to close the deal on that as well.

This is all true, along with the fact that we never stood a chance with him. He mentioned he liked crooms a lot and would have gone if he was his position coach, but didn't really care for anything else.
