Hmmm, Penson is so ill that she took an ASSISTANT job at Rutgers?

Or maybe her health problems got better?
As someone who is married to a basketball coach who has been battling cancer for six years, go **** yourself.

It’s a valid question. I thought when she left odd to quit a job with health coverage why not take a leave of absence

Interesting. Some of you had her on her deathbed.

Nothing good could come from this conversation.

Concerning Nikki McCray-Penson, let's just turn the page and keep moving forward.

I mean, yes, but there are pretty straightforward plausible answers. If she got a serious diagnosis like cancer, that's pretty devastating news, even though a lot of cancer is very treatable now. She may have felt like she didn't want to do work (which was not going well at the time) rather than spend what she thinks may be very limited time with her friends and family. Could have been that she got a really bad diagnosis and either responded to treatment really well or got a more optimistic diagnosis from a specialist, or it could have just been such an emotional response initially that after spending some time processing it and seeing what treatment is actually like, she realized coaching, or at least being an assistant coach, was not incompatible with her illness/treatment. Or could have just been she decided work is healthy for her emotional well being even though she's just as sick and treatment is just as difficult as she thought.

Go woke, go broke.

I don't agree with the question of the OP but it could at least see an argument for a legit question. Sure, I downvoted the OP and I think it's ******** but at least we have history of coaches pulling this stuff like Urban Myer did but:

WTF does "WOKE" have to do with the price of cookies. Can some things not be about race or political in nature and just be about the individual?

Will we ever get to the point when a coach is a good hire or not and not have it be about politics, a person's race or gender?

And as far going broke if you go Woke. Mississippi is the furthest thing from "WOKE" out there and this state is the poorest, worst educated, highest teen pregnancy rate in the country. Meanwhile WOKE *** California would have the 5th largest GDP in the world if it stood alone as a country just ahead of India and just behind Germany.

Seems like to me if you wanted your state to make money you would WAKE the **** up and follow California's lead and actually educate our children properly, require better wages, give our poor proper healthcare and make everyone's lives better and more productive.

California got rich before it got stupid. We were stupid first, and are now trying to undo the damage. I don't recommend either approach, but between the options of Get rich and then get stupid, and be stupid and try to get rich by being less stupid, I'd recommend the former every time.

Just wow.

I guess you would rather our populous remain poor, uneducated, fat and pregnant at 15 and dead a decade earlier than those in CA. They may do a bunch of ignorant stuff we don't understand but they also do a helluva lot more stuff better.

"Go woke and Go broke" is a lie. It is stupid phrase that ignores the facts of Mississippi doing it wrong compared to them.

California did have a lot of Gold and other natural resources, year round sunny weather, perfectly geographically located for military bases. Just being located where it is give it an advantage over every other state. Not like miss was loaded with a lot of gold and silver when it first became a state. I am just saying not all was equal. Our only advantage is rain and a lot of it.

…..that it’s driven my Texas property taxes through the roof with all the ******** fleeing there. People are leaving that place in droves. Google it or something. Your argument is dumb.

I think the “uneducated” argument is representative of the communities that simply want to live off the government. And, whaddya know, that also comprises the poorest. Not sure if it’s still the same way, but when I was in grade school the grading scale was ABSURD. 100-95 an A, 94-85 a B, 84-75 a C, 74-65 a D and anything below that an F. Everywhere else has easier grading that that, and it definitely can’t help the pass/fail scores.

The parts of MS that vote blue like you are the WORST in the country at most everything. That’s less than 5-10% and mainly in the Delta. They vote for everything California stands for…. But, sure, the rest of Mississippi should “follow their lead”.

I hope I was able to shed some light on how dumb your argument was. Peace!

One correction: A "D" back in the day was a score of between 70 and 74 inclusive. Anything below 70 was an "F".

Thanks, I knew that didn’t seem right….

So, basically an F in Mississippi was a passing grade most other places by 10 points. I’ve never understood why we did that to ourselves.

I have read countless articles about the population shift. It's real in some instances and overblown in other instances.
The state has not effectively handled affordable housing and increased housing. The slowed population grown is in large part due to that.

Even still, it's not like people are abandoning ship.

Tell me exactly what color party and which rep is in charge of the areas of Mississippi you are talking about making the poverty level and social problems in Mississippi. I'll bet you the area or representive hasn't changed since I used to live there and grew up in Mississippi. Before you start throwing shade over the entire state you should take a look at what is really drawing things down to such a ****** level.

Please send those bluebirds from Cally this information so they will move back. Thanks.

My buddy in Nashville expresses the same sentiment since the Bluebirds started flocking to Tennessee because there's no state income tax there. Exactly which state you live in?????

Last I heard, but I'm not sure, rumor is that an assistant job is less demanding than a head coach.

Hear me out. Just a theory.

It takes generations of wealth to reverse courses. Add a couple generations together and oh **** you're back in the civil rights days when black people were segregated and couldn't even drink out of the same water fountain as white people go back a couple more and you're in the civil war when black people were slaves in the Delta. How you expect them to close the gap especially when all the rich white people have been stealing all the power jobs since forever.

The “power jobs” in the Delta died with King Cotton…

Delta county majorities vote for socialism every election. There can’t be a correlation between that and finding a “power job”.

It’s one of the poorest places in the US, and it brings down the entire state. If we could pawn out part of the delta off on Arkansas, Mississippi would probably crack the top 45 in poverty rankings.

I think he was referring to blue and you might be referring to Benny Thompson.

Cali.
Why would me sending them info that population growth has slowed result in them going back to Cali?

What's it matter where I live?
