one loss two time champ AB did not make finals - bad call there

No surprise there, and not a "bad call." The #1 criteria in the Hodge is Record. As we've seen in past years, if you have a loss, you're pretty much out of the running for the Hodge.

I initially looked for Aaron but that loss apparently eliminated him. I do think wrestling in the Big 10 each man has superior competition match for match so record can be skewed compared to those facing lesser competition week in and week out. I didn't realize Gable had such a high rate of bonus point matches, impressive. His speed at that weight is a game changer.

Haven’t seen the actual numbers but it’s amazing PSU has 3 of the top 7 in vote getters. That’s just incredible. Steveson is worthy, great record, totally dominating style, drew in some new viewers, caused many long time wrestling fans to hang around until HWT bout was over, and was the face of MN Wrestling the past couple/ few years. I for one don’t miss the dancing bears. He’s deserving of the award. But as a PSU fan we’ve been blessed with some wonderful athletes and fine young men. Congratulations to all of them.

I voted for Nick Lee because I am a big fan but hard to argue with Gable winning! He dominated his weight class and is of course the Olympic gold medal winner on top of his college achievements.!
