He was a phenomenal athlete, All-State qb in high school and still owns the Southern Mississippi record for most interceptions in a season.

He’s one of the very few NFL players who people always mention first or second when talking about the best ever at a specific position. Jim Brown, Joe Greene, Jerry Rice, Ray Guy. That’s about it.

Different era where a 42 yard avg and 32 yard net were HOF worthy but he was the best of that time.

When you think of punters Guy is undoubtedly one of the first names mentioned by everyone. (Guy, Roby, Landeta for me)

At some point your reputation defines you. I mean, here I am bringing up Red Grange.

Saw that on a scroll earlier. I hated the early 70s Raiders, but Ray Guy always struck me as a cool character. RIP Ray Guy.

Except that Guy never punted for distance, otherwise his average would have been higher. Hell, he averaged nearly 50 yards a punt as a senior in high school.

The Gentleman, Ray Guy, was one of my favorite all time players.
Very sorry to see he passed away before me.
