What kept America's team from winning 5 or 6 Super Bowls, besides the fact that Jerruh is an egotistical asshat who couldn't take Jimmy Johnson was winning and taking glory from him, was the imposition of the Salary Cap. With that, a lot of good mid-level players like Ken Norton, Jr. and Russell Maryland, left for big-money contracts elsewhere while Jerruh locked down Aikman, Emmitt, and Irvin. Without the strong supporting cast, they couldn't make plays like they used to and the team slowly deteriorated.Fletch Fletcher said:I've been a lifelong Cowboys fan, long before Jerry bought the Cowboys and I'll be a fan long after he is dead and gone. Although I understand peoples dislike of the Cowboys (I hate the Yankees but mostly because of MLBs lack of salary cap as opposed to the actual organization/ownership), but I've never understood the specific hatred of Jerry. He's an owner that actually tries his damndist to win. What's so wrong with that? Do those that hate Jerry wish all owners were like the owners of the KC Royals???? Seriously, the new stadium cost 1.1 billion and Jerry sunk over 600 million of his own money into it. Would you rather it have been a mediocre stadium paid for with all tax payers money??? What is so terrible about an owner with a win at all monetary cost attitude?
And Tom Benson is any better? He's a cheapskate that has played the city of New Orleans for years for money and concessions. He lucked into getting a decent coach in Payton, but he'd as soon decimate a team (Dikta/Ricky) as have a serious contender. Jerry Jones is a grand moron, and he's a lousy GM. But the very last thing the Saints fans ever need to do is try and complain about owners. I guess after that beat down, nothing's left, is there.whatever said:How can you not see why people hate Jerry Jones? He tries to run the entire team, he's all about himself, he fired a legendary coach and then the greatest coach during his tenure b/c he didn't want anyone to be "bigger" than him, he's always sticking his presence into places it doesn't belong (ie being on the sidelines during the game, micromanaging the staff, telling Phillips mid season to start calling the defense and demote his DC)... Basically, he's got a bigger ego than Steinbrenner and has the biggest "look at me" complex in all of sports.
