Interesting....
I would like to know what Ms. Jeanette was offered by Tenn.

My momma gave me her consent (to commit)," Hopson told Scout.com's Dave Telep. "I'm in a great position and I'm going to make the best of it."

Hopson and his mother, Jeanette, have been in Knoxville since Monday afternoon on a visit.

makes a public decision for recruits. i can understand consulting with your parents but when i was 17 or 18 years old i would have NEVER told the free world that mommy told me i could do it. i wonder if this is going to get worse before it gets better. it seems like each year there are more and more high profile recruits that let their moms dictate the recruiting process. since it is highly publicized, it may become the only way to do business in the near future.

hell maybe i just haven't paid enough attention to this crap over the last few years and this is the way it has always been. damn if i would have let mommy decide for me though.

over by God. That's when you know your really screwed. I just wish God would start leading some of these highly touted recruits to State.

Most folks close to the situation have always said momma and the boyfriend who was deal maker for UT were well taken care of. I have no idea, but since it is UT, nothing will come of it, they have proven to be untouchable. Only hope would have been if Ky was in the running and they might have screamed but I doubt they would. I hate we lost him but from what I heard we were smart not to play the games UT were playing.

When Horton (4*LB) switched from AU to Ole Miss then back to Auburn a few years ago, he said he switched back to Auburn because he woke up that morning and had a feather laying on his pillow beside his head. He took it as a sign from God saying "War Eagle" and redecommitted (or whatever you wanna call it). Of course, he played a year then transferred to NWCC, committed to us again this past year and never signed. I don't know where he ended up.

not the "play right now" statement. Especially not if a kid's a big time competitor. Then again, he's a teenager, and they tend to say a lot of things that don't make sense. (I have 3 of 'em, with another just 2 years away.)

"But it came down to distance and it came down to him wanting to play right now. I got a sense from his teammates about a week ago, this might be what he wanted. This is what Scotty wanted to do." - UAH coach Randy McCoy in this article:

It's all about the mighty $buck$. That's why momma is always involved.

Now keep in mind, had he committed to MSU, it would've been for the same reason. Mama and arguably, the bucks.

It's no secret that paying off of players goes on in college basketball. But this kid and his mother have been making it blatantly obvious. I said on here months ago when his mother said he was going to sign with MSU even though he didn't know it, that it would be a wise move to back off/stay the <17> away from this guy and his family. I guess MSU got outbid on this one, and if I were an MSU fan, I'd be happy about that.
