a defender who's team is up a couple of touchdowns late in the game is going to let a guy score rather than risk a horse collar, which will screw up millions of dollars in bets, and this **** will get fixed.

Players will risk the 15 yard penalty to stop the TD every time, no matter what the game situation is.

Except the ones that played for Mississippi State in the second half of 2003. Those guys on defense didn't even care enough to break a sweat.

they realize that this is football? You try and knock the hell out of whoever is across from you. Whoever has the ball is open to to whatever comes his way in my opinion.

The defense is always scrutinized more than the offense.

Couldn't you say the same thing about the facemask? A player will let a guy score instead of risking a 15 yard facemask call. What's the difference?

Again, goes to my theory that all rules in the last 15 years are set up for teams to score points.

Coaching defense has to suck in todays game.

Unless Croom is on the other sideline.

but that's a good rule.. the horsecollar breaks more legs and sprains more ankles severely than any play in football. I cringe everytime I see a guy get pulled down from behind and his foot is planted. This is long overdue

that horse collar does seem to fall in line w/ the facemask. I just cringe when I see the back of the guys head impact the playing surface. I don't think it is the pussification of America as much as I think it is you just got your *** blocked off, or caught out of posistion, or you are just not fast enough, & as a result guys started going for the horsecollar. I love some good form tacklin', but I never liked seeing that.
