He's done well everywhere he's been plus he's young and a South Carolina native.

He hasn’t won his conference in the regular season or made the tourney he’s had a very nice start to his career, but without the accomplishments, 38 seems a little young for a guy who just has a good record.

He’ll be one of the top names. I’d say him, along with Boynton, plus a couple of others.

.”The journey to his first head coaching position has been an interesting one but quite a quick ride for the then 32-year-old.  He was born in New Orleans while his dad was a medical student at Tulane University. His family moved to South Carolina when he was in the second grade for his father to complete his medical residency.”

Per wiki he was born in New Orleans
He spent his childhood, teens, college days, early coaching days, coaching days in SOUTH CAROLINA...It's not where you were born...it's where you've spent the majority of you life that matters....he is a South Carolinian, his children and wife were born here...

In his bio with Furman, he told them he was a native...get a clue ding-dong...

He gets my pick as the next coach at The University of South Carolina

19IsTHEman, why are you hung up on from birth to 2nd grade...I bet he barley remembers being in the 1st grade....good grief...

I don't see any hangups. If Wikipedia didn't show a more complete biography and you didn't know any better, of course you would question.

I was born in Savannah simply because there were no practicing ob-gyns in Beaufort at the time. I guess that still makes me a native Beaufortonian.

I'm reading that Xavier has jumped in on Miller. If a Catholic school can look past his transgressions, then we ought to be able to do the same.

Why are you so hung up on it?

Seems like he's the guy. He'll certainly not turn the job down and we won't conduct a very thorough search.

I'm not sure about pursuing a guy who hasn't managed to win the SoCon in 6 seasons.

If Richey were at Chattanooga instead of Furman, it's not likely he'd even be on our radar.

Completely unlikely.

Exactly. He’s a candidate because he doesn’t coach at a school 200 miles to the west. That’s it. The borders of SC shouldn’t be that important when hiring a coach.

And I made a mistake in another thread - 4 different teams have won the conference regular season championship in the five years since he’s been there. He needs a little more time.

Hopefully this is a Chadwell situation where we give a courtesy interview to the young, up-and-coming in-state coach.
