How do you explain the improvement by Trautwein's OL?

Based on the performance of his lines, Phil Trautwein was under a bit of scrutiny after the 2021 season but really turned things around in 2022. Might we finally have an a$$-kicking OL in 2023?

If you watched the Michigan game, you wouldn't be asking this question. Getting tossed around like rag dolls is not appreciable improvement.

And the Utes defense spent a considerable amount of time in PSU's backfield.

Yes PSU's OL improved year over year....like going from a D+ to a C or C+.

So cute. If you only watched one game the last few years you would make a comment like that. You should have watched the last 2-3 years maybe and then try to say with a straight face they didn't improve this year.

Our freshman RBs got experience and came into their own; that really helped the run blocking as the season went on.

As for pass blocking, I think there was improvement, but I would like to see season QB pressure stats to see if we really improved or just dominated the weaker teams.

Trautwein's a good coach. OL improvement takes time. Most guys on the OL take 2-3 years to develop. Factor in the recruiting process and you just have to be patient. Results on the OL take longer than any other position. No other position requires such a dramatic physical change.

Come on man…. 11-2 with a over 1900 rushing yards and you go there?

I swear some of you just live in perpetual misery, and enjoy it. I’m sorry….
Karl Marx wrote the Communist Manifesto with carbuncles on his ***. That's how I see these poor pathetic souls. Likely its hemorrhoids.

@BrucePa could be an ohowihate fan. They concentrate on one game a year. They’ll tell you they don’t mind going 1-11 each year as long as that 1 is Michigan.
12 games a season Bruce.

And how did that work out? How did they do on the 5 yard power runs for TDs from the 5. Not bad for playing with 3 starters out including the starting LT who was projected to be the first OL taken if he had turned pro this year. You are priceless, simply priceless.

They had to put 8 in the box to get guys through. Tons of run blitzing. Left their secondary in a bind quite a bit. And we still ran the ball successfully vs them.

Thus the reason Michigan keeps bringing in experienced OLs from the portal. It defnitely takes time to develop OLs and the right type of offensive scheme that meshes with the abilities of the linemen helps. I believe Michigan already has two experienced starting tackles from the PAC12 coming in from the portal for 2023.

On the other hand, perhaps its time to tune in to another....more recent game?
we were also missing big parts of the line most of this season. if all 5 were at 100% through the year we would have been dominant.
