when only averaging 46.9 yards per punt. Dude from Michigan St. averaged 49.0 yards. After 12 games Korsak was ranked 29th in the Country... Something changed over night!!

Said this in another post but the #1 criteria should be > How many times did the punter pin the other team inside the 10? Inside the 5?

That should be 80% of the criteria. Then the other 20% should be distance because if you really think about it, a punter cannot help where the coach decides to punt. A lot of times the coach will put when they've crossed the 50 yard line and are into the opponents territory, which naturally will shorten their punt length even if they have a cannon for a leg. The criteria for selection is a joke.

This year's Ray Guy Award is a absolute freaking joke and is doing a great disservice to the "Guy" whom this award is in honor of!!! But then again, most college football award winners are a "head scratcher" enigma anyway. Just take a look at these awards' past winners and you will ask "Who was that player?" and "How the heck was he chosen the winner?".

The 2 pest punters in the nation were not even finalists with one of them not even a semifinalist. The award is a joke.

Except when one team always punts from their own 20 and the punter can always just boom it.
Longest punting NET over an entire season (specified minimum number of punts) washes out all vagaries. Ray Guy boomed the ball sky high and minimized return yardage.
