I really seems like the CFB HC position has changed and many more factors come into play to be successful. Still getting the best players is pretty key. The CFB NC teams are still the ones that have had the best recruiting classes - so the jimmys and joes remain critical factor. So many more things to manage including much larger organization. Kind of the "CEO" model is part of this.

What makes a coach successful in the modern game?
How would great coaches from the past deal with this? Could their style still work today?
Are there coaches out there now who may be on the way out due to nonfit for the "modern" game?
How would you rate James Franklin in terms of these skills? To me he seems to have a lot of what it takes.

The best coaches are on this website 12 weekends every fall! How they all aren’t running their own Power 5 team boggles the mind!!

Great question and I agree with you. The coaching position has definitely evolved into the CEO model in the college game. This evolution plays into the many strengths of coach Franklin.
