For central MS, not rain in the 10 day forecast. For the 82 corridor, rain forecast for next Thursday/Friday.

The long-range models keep flip-flopping, but there may be something interesting later this month for Hugh and his crew.

When do you see a good chance of rain? I need to get food plots planted
Marler, the first showers are a trap. Don’t plant until we get some moisture back in the ground. Planting anytime soon ahead of a rain is very risky. It’s so dry that the soil will soak up that first rain quick. It might germinate your seed and then if it doesn’t rain again your wheat will be dead in 10 days. I am not real smart so I had to plant and watch my wheat die twice before I learned my lesson. Get one good rain and then plant before the second rain. We usually plant by the 15th of Oct but if the weather pattern doesn’t change we will wait awhile. You should be ok out until early November. The down side is that it may be awhile before you have enough green stuff to hunt over. Watching the weather constantly hoping for a change. Hopefully Hugh will share some encouraging news soon.

I’ll be running the tractor tomorrow to prep fields but we are waiting to plant. Our place hasn’t been this dry in my lifetime. Seeing the creek bone dry is crazy.
