This may have been discussed here, but why in the hell can’t you turn left off of poor house rd to get on 25 S? Forced right turn and then go a quarter mile to u-turn. Seems like that is problematic for game days. And if it’s been like that for a while I just have just missed it and gone home a different route.

They implemented that during baseball season. I guess since they have LEO's at old 25 and new 25 after games during football season, they are trying to direct everyone down old 25.

They've done that in Flowood/39047 in several places too. I see cars turning in the wrong one on Northshore Blvd at the Spillways Krogers.

I live here and have no idea what you are talking about? Why not just turn south on Louisville and come out maybe 1 mile south?
I bet they made the change when three people in a week were killed at that intersection.

There had been several really bad wrecks at that intersection.
Well that makes sense then. I had no idea that change was made until we were on our way home today and decided to go over old 25 instead of turning left on it.

We have the same issue in Carrollton where 35 crosses 82, there's plenty of room and great sight-lines, but lot of wrecks (i think mostly older folks). It is a true 4 way, so gonna be harder to fix.

I still can’t believe the name hasn’t been changed from Poor house road
This could offend the white trash people that dare to put mayo on peas

They figured they 17ed up 12 so bad why not spread the misery out to other roads.

What I do as well so haven't been that way in forever to see it. You wonder if they might do that there as well at some point as it seems the set up is similar. Not sure why one is/was more dangerous than the other.

If they do that at the one at old 25 then game day traffic will be 17ed. Of course I’m only thinking about 6-8 days a year but getting out and south could become a cluster

That is probably a result of the school bus accident there some months back, driver and some students all had to go to hospital.

On a related note, wait until you go down the section of Bailey Howell Drive by the Hump after a game of any sport (baseball, football, basketball won't matter) in the future. They are turning that into a 1 lane road instead of 2 essentially by adding islands all along the right hand lane forcing you to use only the inside one on both sides. Great idea huh!

All of you that know nothing about the transportation field but always cut up about everything, you should know this - there is always a solid reason why things are done, and most times, it's safety or public outcry about something. Either way, it's not the government's, engineer's or contractor's fault (most times).

Well, they don't want people to be able to drive anywhere on that side of campus..... cause why?

Yeah, I was on campus a few days back and noticed that. I'm sure there's some logical reason they're doing that but it certainly seems odd.

Cause they want it to take you just as long to get out of a baseball or basketball game as it does football evidently.
I don't understand how a school that produces so many traffic engineers hasn't yet figured out how to provide contraflow traffic around their sports facilities.

It seems too easy to put a traffic signal at this intersection. Blinking yellow/red most of the time, but on game days program it to let everyone out safely... Of course, I don't know much about it. Maybe there's some reason not to make it easy.

MDOT is placing R-CUT/J-Turn intersections all over the state. They reduce the number of serious accidents due to cross-traffic collisions .
Yep. They put one of them near my mom’s house where old 63 crosses 98 near Lucedale. I also noticed some on 45 headed to the games last fall. Around Quitman and Waynesboro for sure and maybe a couple others.

yeah. one exit there is a 4 lane divided road, and the other is now one lane....

It's like they want everyone to go out the other way.... to the 4 lane highway...

because people will ignore it and there will be accidents.

A red light that flashes yellow for 357 of 365 days? no one will ever see it be red, or the bus full of blind orphan kids leaving their first ever MSU game.

Better to have MHP there with flashing lights.

People are dying, it’s that simple. Crossing a high traffic, high speed four lane causes deaths. There a lot of them but some are worse than others.
It’s too easy to get your drivers license and way to easy to keep them even when you lose the ability to drive.

I had good friend die at one at crossing 82 Hwy on Maben - Sturgis road, he wasn’t even driving. My mother-in-law was in a horrible wreck a few weeks ago. She still may not survive the experience.

The Natchez Trace had a bad crossing at Palmetto road near Tupelo. So many died they finally put in an overpass. Those are expensive, rerouting traffic is much easier and saves lives.

The last time I drove from Jacktown to Vegas was up 55 to 82 I think back in the mid 80's or sometimes up The Trace if I wanted to chill out on the beautiful scenery. I assume 25 is complete now and that's the best way? I remember conspiracy rumblings that tsun kept 82 & 25 construction delayed to 17 STATE.

Don't want anybody getting killed going to and from that Choctaw Indian 24 Hour Truck Stop Casino in Lewwwwisvillle.

The Louisville Travel Plaza will be located on an 18-acre site on South Church Street in Louisville, MS. The land is part of the Crystal Ridge Community on the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians reservation. The opening date for the casino and travel plaza is expected in the summer of 2024.

I was helping my daughter (no pics) move some stuff home after the semester ended. Coming from E Lee headed south, somehow I ended up on campus and couldn't get off. None of the gates would rise when I pulled up to them to exit. Finally I caught an old lady MSU employee walking down the sidewalk and she used her ID to open a gate so I could leave.

Drive a mile over the speed limit or park in the wrong spot for a moment and MSU PD is everywhere, but you can't find them when you need them.
