what if croom had run dixon, like we all think he should have done, and even when they were stacking the box, and still lost the game ... everyone on here would be bitching and moaning that we should have thrown it.

obviously, a nice mix of run/pass is always ideal .. which is what was NOT present in the second half.

also, you have to understand croom's perspective, or mccorvey, giving tyson lee the nod .. carroll had thrown interceptions, was having a "down" night. so, if croom had played carroll, and did the same damn thing tyson lee did and lost, then we would all be bitching about croom not playing lee b/c he hadn't thrown any picks.

still, we got beat b/c we didn't run the ball .. this run-pass check should not always be an option. sometimes, we should do as MSU does, and that is run the football when everyone on the planet knows we are going to, and still not be stopped - both dixon and ducree have proven they are good enough to do so.

finally, i think if we had flown down friday and stayed the night, we would have won. there are side-effects of flying ... i think going down there day of pisses me off most. just boneheaded move.

I think the point is, make the correct decisions that give you the best shot at winning.

Yes, Carroll was having an off night. But, I would rather have him in there trying to lead a comeback since he had led comebacks against Auburn on the road, Ole Miss at home, and the winning drive against UCF. Besides, Lee looked like crap as well. It's not like he looked like the "real deal".

And yes, we should have run because it would have done several things: it would have put their offense in a situation where they would have had very little time left, potentially tied the game, and their defense was tired by that point.

I don't think flying there had anything to do with how we played. I do think that we made poor decisions that cost us the game.

...we lost that game for a myriad of reasons, one of which was offensive coaching in getting away from the run. I completely agree with you that the run-pass check should not've been an option when we go down 16-14. Just run it down their throats and score. Especially when we get near the red zone in field goal range. If we were stuffed, and still lost, I would've felt slightly better about our coaching and worse about our offensive line. The other reasons that we lost the game have to do with correctable things/turnovers/bad calls, which are fixable and/or rare. The coaching is not. That's obviously a problem.

It doesn't matter how we lost, the fact is we lost, and there will be bitching because of it. Croom finds a way to win the games he should, sneak in a couple he shouldn't and it will go a looooooong way towards stopping the bitching. Until then, let the armchair qb's ***** away.</p>
