It affects you almost three days later?

At the end of the day, do you really care that much about it? How is your life different today if MSU had won?

Maybe Im in the minority, but I have gotten to the point that if Ole Miss loses or wins, it doesn't affect my life one way or the other. Sure during the 3 hours the game is on, I want Ole Miss to win and I also want MSU to lose, but after the game is over what is really different in your life?

It could just be im becoming more distracted by other things in my life, I remember being 25 and being pissed at the world we had lost to MSU in 2001, it pissed me off through Christmas, now last year I was able to eat Thanksgiving lunch without it bothering me at all.

Am I the only one this is happening to?

That's because your mind became conditioned to Ed Orgeron. It numbed your senses. You'll start back caring once MSU & OM become competitive.

Nope --- same thing happened to me quite a few years ago. I still buy season tickets and go see MSU play, but have long had the same attitude as you. I want us to win, OM to lose and Bama to lose. But if it doesn't happen, my life goes on -- pretty much unchanged.

No. It's called growing up. I was over this by the time I got back to my car. I still don't like it, but I don't care nearly as much now as I used to.

He walked into my office, shook his head and motioned with his hand as if to say "Don't say anything," turned and walked out. This let me know that, out of a sense of mercy, there'd be no discussion of the debacle in Roughston.

You know it's bad when complete jackasses want nothing to do with it. It truly is like kicking the ***** cripple.

only because we had no business losing, and with it being the first game it kind of put a damper on the rest of the season. Atleast I finally grew out of breaking ****.

No, you don't care, because you actually get to watch real football at Auburn.

but if we win 5 games, Im not going to care that much. Sure I'll be disappointed, but at the end of the day it won't affect me or my life one bit.

I have no problem with someone living and dying with each win or loss, I used to be that guy. When I left VH after the 7 OT game against Arkansas, I felt like a relative had died. Im serious too, I remember getting to the grove in a shocked state, the next week I was useless at work and pretty much depressed for two weeks, (I think we had a bye the week after that game).

Now, after the loss against LSU in 2006, that was a game that would have normally killed my season, and had me drinking for two-three days. It didn't, I was pissed we lost, but I remember that night going out and having a good time with my wife and friends. That could have never happened 7-8 years ago.

When you are in college and shortly after it matters. Later on, you realize it's just a game. I was disappointed, mostly because we would have won by 2-3 TDs minus the dumb mistakes, but it didn't change anything in my life. I really wasn't upset when they took the lead, just disappointed. There are a lot more important things in life than football and a person is much happier when he/she figures that out, particularly if that person is a State fan.

That does take a little of the sting away, I will admit. LSU-Auburn is Sept. 20. I could sell my tickets today and have enough money to take the wife to Atlanta for that weekend, stay at a five star hotel in Buckhead and eat at the nicest places in town and catch the Ga Tech game. But if I did that, she would kill me because she is ready for the game.

I didn't see anyone in this thread threaten to jump off of a building. Some posters are pissed, and rightfully so, but nobody said it was life changing.

If you want to act like you don't care, thats fine, but don't your 10,000 post on a MSU sports board suggest otherwise.

are two completely different things.

I love talking about sports, and I dislike work. I would rather post about football, particularly ole miss and msu football because it interests me. Just because I have a strong interest in something doesn't mean I will let it affect my mood.

Ive been a cubs fan for 27 years, I can remember every big loss, and last year when the cubs were swept by the D-Backs, I don't think I watched the last 9 outs.

Same goes for Ole Miss athletics, I really want Ole Miss to do well, and I will watch games, and post my opinion, but at the end of the day, win or lose, it doesn't affect my life. Sure, I like watching Ole Miss win, and don't like watching them lose, but when they lose my life is simply not that affected. Maybe Im a bad rebel, but life is too damn short to be walking around pissed if your team loses to Memphis/La Tech.

Like I said, 6 years ago this was not my position, but as time goes by, it is clearly my position. I fully expect to get beat by Wake, and anything above that will be gravy, and either way I still have to go to work on Monday.

Well, let me say this:

Life changing/affecting- no.

Losing to an inferior school and looking like chumps- I think it's OK to be pissed off a little bit.

The fact is no one else in the SEC would put up with losing to La Tech- hell a lot of schools would have fired their coach after that pitiful performance. We (MSU fans) get made fun of and then told that "it's just life, deal with it".

I'm sure that's how UF fans felt after we beat Zook in 04 as well.

after only one game most of our hopes for a winning season and bowl game are shot. Even after all the good things that happened for us last year, we were still a dramatic comeback against the Rebs from sitting home. I say that because had we been 6-6, we would likely have been the ones sitting home rather than South Carolina. We just have little to no margin for error playing in this league and to squander what should have been a win down in Ruston just leaves a damper on everything to come. If we had played an SEC opponent and lost or even maybe the GT game and lost I would be fine, but leaving a win down at LT I feel will be more than this team can overcome in terms of accomplishing anything this year. That's the depressing part.

I'll be at the Ga. Tech game, but If I had tickets to the Lsu-Auburn game, I wouldn't even think twice about going to Gs. Tech. You're a lucky man.

I think it happened to me this weekend somewhere between Ruston and Vicksburg. When the game was over, all I wanted to do was get out of Ruston asap. There is this Pilot gas station outside of Ruston where we stopped for food. This was the first place on the way out of town and I guess a lot of MSU fans had the same idea. As I watched the MSU fans come and go, nobody was bitching or griping. Everyone just came quietly in with their heads hung low. A quick nod of acknowledgment to fellow MSU fans and then on their way. The fans were just broken. It was not even worth the effort to be mad because it was not going to change anything. In the back of the car I had that moment of clarity that my "fling" was over with Croom. Remember in high school when you were dating that hot cheerleader and you like the fact that you were dating a hot cheer leader, but then one day you had the realization that she got on your last nerve and you knew you had to break up with her? That is the feeling I had about Croom this weekend. I just can't get excited about this team anymore. I can go tailgate and still go to games, but I can care less about the result on the field with this coach because I know that as long as he maintains his system, he will never be able to win consistently.
